Well, it's a corporation- many thousands of people own pieces of it.
Some controversy because Cheney is on the list of shareholders. Not that
it matters. My neighbor owns shares. So do many, many *many* others. If
someone's an investor, they almost certainly have payed long attention
to, if not purchased, halliburton's stock. And are almost guarenteed to
own stock in one of it's many subsidary companies.

As to the current CEO- don't know. Probably another corporate fatcat
who gives money to Republicans and Democrats on every election so he'll
have whomever wins in his pocket.

well if cick cheney owns a fraction of it whose's his backer or
financial supporter.

I'm afraid I don't get the context of your question. Do you mean his
stock broker or something? I don't know what you're meaning, exactly, so
I cannot answer.

The Bush family's connections to the Osama bin Laden's family seem
almost surreal. On September 28, 2001, two weeks after 9/11, the Wall
Street Journal reported that, "George H.W. Bush, the father of President
Bush, works for the bin Laden family business in Saudi Arabia through
the Carlyle Group, an international consulting firm."

As a representative of Carlyle, one of the investors that Bush brought
to Carlyle was the Bin Laden Group, a construction company owned by
Osama's family. The bin Ladens have been called the Rockefellers of the
Middle East, and the father, Mohammed, has reportedly amassed a $5
billion empire. According the Journal, Bush convinced Shafiq bin Laden
to invest $2 million with Carlyle.

But your neighbor poet, is he the vice president with a conflict of
interest involved????:grumble Why didnt Cheney sale off his stock?

So, are you planning to answer my question? Or just to keep quoting
sources that prove, once again, that all rich people interact with one
another on a lot of mostly coincidental levels.

There is NO SECRET that bin Laden used to be a supposed friend of ours.
And that his, and our, financial activities were mixed together. Is it
illegal for us to share stock tips with our friends? Even when those
"friends" later turn around and attack us. As long as we don't help them
AFTER they stab us in the back- that's crossing the line.

Actually, no. My neighbor doesn't like Bush, or Cheney, or the war in
any sence. In fact- he hates this war. But why should Halliburton
matter? It's one of many petroleum companies with interests in the area.
(Essentially, all of them do).

Why the heck would you sell stock in a company that is making you a
profit.

Isn't this Hburton thing being handled.

I have a neighbor that had stock in this company. He didn't sell his
stocks until they started dropping. You going to fry him for owning
stocks in a company that uses some illegal practices.

If you dig far enough into most oil companies you will find some link
into one politician or another what does that have to do with the price
of tea in china?

Because they are the largest defense contractor in the US, they are
making a killing and stealing American tax dollars in Iraq, and ****
Cheney is the vp with a conflicting interest in the contracts giving to
Haliburton, the length of the contracts(the length of the war), and the
profits of Haliburton. 1, 2, 3,,, reasons....Your neighbor doesnt.
If **** Cheney were to sell his shares(if he wasnt greedy?) he would
lose a penny, but would not reap the benefits of Haliburton profits. Why
doesnt he sell them?, He could buy more stock in another company.
Isnt this the same thing as insider trading?

Fanta46's photo
Sun 04/22/07 11:00 PM
that should be he would not lose a penny

AdventureBegins's photo
Sun 04/22/07 11:03 PM
and if he sold them then the pundits would claim.

"VICE PRESIDENT LOSES FAITH IN TOP DEFENSE CONTRACTOR"

Either way he's screwed.

Sun 04/22/07 11:09 PM
Yeah. So, he's boned regardless. Might as well become more rich if he
can't win.

At least he has the joy of laughing at all the poor people who don't
like him and can't do ---- about it.

Fanta46's photo
Sun 04/22/07 11:13 PM
He should of, could of sold them when he took the job.
And that list of shareholders,,,
I believe it, but who are the major stock holders for each of those
corporations?

Im not great with economics,(not even ok) but couldnt effect the
appearance of ownership in Haliburton stock and shuffle profits into one
pocket ( so to speak) ? I mean couldnt you hide it from direct sight,
and make someone really look to find it??? Like I said I dont do
economics, but I am pretty good with numbers....

no photo
Sun 04/22/07 11:26 PM
But almost *everyone* owns stock in halliburton, if that list is to be
believed. Hell, *I* have stock. So, no doubt, do the Clintons, Obama,
and probably bin Laden and Saddam before.... well.... you get the idea.

Just because you own stock (even a lot of stock) doesn't matter with a
company of this size and scope. I'm willing to bet they also own stock
in other fuel and/or defence contracting companies. On the democrat, as
well as republican, sides of the fence.

Corruption, maybe. But no more than usual. If we could fix the whole
damned mess for every member of every political party- I'd be happy. But
attacking one particular administration because of your *PERSONAL*
problems, whilst ignoring other politicians. Is biased, and just plain
morally wrong.

Fanta46's photo

Theres a big difference in owning 100 shares and owning a hundred
thousand shares....

We need to get away from professional politicians, they are all
capitalist business men, who have no connection with the common
American. We should just let preachers and priest run the government. It
would be the opposite side of the coin, but basically the same thing.
Where one rules from his pockets, the other rules from the Bible.(or
Koren)
Just some things to think about,,
But I know you love GW, and wouldnt have it any other way....
