Is it okay to drink alcohol?

NO

Numbers 6:3
He shall separate himself from wine and strong drink, and shall drink no vinegar of wine, or vinegar of strong drink, neither shall he drink any liquor of grapes, nor eat moist grapes, or dried.

YES

Genesis 27:28
God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine.

huh

This is why I dont spend much time on these Read the whole thing. A Nazirite was some one consecrated himself or herself and took a vow of separation and self imposed abstinence for the purpose of some special service.

How does that clear up the contradiction though?

Im not sure what that would have to do with it, Yamin. Anyway, here is another.

Is it okay to drink alcohol?

NO

Judges 13:4
Drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing.

YES

Judges 9:13
Wine, which cheereth God and man.
personal favorite

bigsmile

Judges was a specific case for a woman who was going to bear a child, this woman was sterile and childless.

So you are saying that according to the bible, its okay in some cases to drink but not in others? Okay here is yet the third example of a contradiction on this point.

Is it okay to drink alcohol?

NO

Proverbs 20:1
Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

YES

Psalms 104:15
Wine that maketh glad the heart of man.

This is the THIRD example.

They can't make up their mind as to whether it's good or bad. Yet, statistics prove EVERY day...from, domestic disputes, drunk driving, people getting into senseless bar fights, people commiting suicide from alcohol poisoning, college kids getting alcohol poisoning from hazing, etc...etc....that it is purely WRONG and EVIL.

And then you have the "burnouts" getting high in front of the tube. Causing no violence, no harm to anyone, just sitting there being peaceful, minding their own buisness. Yet, these people are scorned more than violent drunks, and persecuted for it.

The whole thing just completely blows my mind.

I would agree. I feel that alcohol in and of itself has the potential to be far more destructive than marijuana use. However, because marijuana is illegal to possess and transport and sell, you can get yourself into some major trouble in that respect and serve time in prison.

The bible is simply confusing and contradictory on the idea of drinking. I think essentially it is okay with alcohol consumption but not to the point of drunkenness but it is terribly vague.

only some places it is leagal and others it is not. The democratic process. But if it is so bad why will the govt. allow the legalization of it.
That tells me it is not what is wrong with it. It is the governing bodies wanting thier say so. Equality. No way. In columbia Mo. it is leagal in your house and if caught smoking it on the street you are written a 25 dollar ticket. No criminal record. Go outside the city and you may go to prison.

"We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold. I remember saying something like, "I feel a bit lightheaded; maybe you should drive . . ."And suddenly there was a terrible roar all around us and the sky was full of what looked like huge bats, all swooping and screeching and diving around the car, which was going about 100 miles an hour with the top down to Las Vegas. And a voice was screaming: "Holy Jesus! What are these goddamn animals?"

Are you worried that once you die all of this might be true and there will be some record keeper angel there who calls you aside and asks you to explain all of that Mingle2 forum stuff? huh

No worries here. I don't think I'm going to be judged when I die. Especially for joking around in a forum.

The sad thing is though, there are millions of people who constantly live in fear because of this.

Genesis 1:12 "God gave us all the seed bearing plants and herbs to use".

Do you think it should be ok for people to use marijuana at there own discretion? Or is that a typo in the bible?

No it is not an error. It says use, not abuse.

There is a medical use for the active ingredient in marijuana, That is legal.

No, I do not think it is okay to use the illegal form.

But it clearly stated in the bible it was okay to use it. There was no distinction made.
