"The difference between sarcasm and cynacism is the amount of humor used and in which context the humor is used. With that I'd like to thank my God, his God, her God, their God, that guy over there's God for this award. And for you athiests I'd like to thank your living room lamp". Ok..... let me put this is way....

Where you have thick or thin skin, you still have a blow/injury inflicted. Just b/c you have a thick skin doesn't mean that you are immune to hurt or insult.

With an individual with thick skin, that injury leaves a dent, gouge, or mark. So eventually, your thick skin is full of scabs and rough gashes. Making your outer appearance 'ugly' as well as your internal (or what people preceive as your internal).

Whereas a person with thin skin, gets the wound, puts a bandaid on it or get stiches, takes care of it allows it to heal. They are proud of that scar. It shows that they have made it through something and healed. That scar is not ugly but represents something beautiful.

So never discount those that have thin skins. For just because they bleed doesn't make them weak.

oh honey i love ya but i totally disagree with ya. i have thick skin and when people say things that are hurtful or bad i pay them no mind. regardless to their mental state. they could be cruel, cynical, abusive, whatever. i don't allow people to dent or scab up my thick skin and i know quite a few people who are thick skinned who feel the same way. its not saying we are better... just different.

we take things different.

if i'm insulted its gotta be something hardcore and even then... its something i face and take on. i won't hesitate to turn around and call someone out for their comments and my opinion heard if they take things far enough. but i'm not about to cry about it.

sure words can hurt.

but only if you let them get past that first layer.

so if i cynic says something harsh.. i laugh becuase they are a cynic and i know who its coming from and why. and i'll call them out for saying what they said. thats just how i am and those i know who are similar in thought.

its not everyone... just a minute few of us.

I think people who are not bothered by insults or ridiculed for their beliefs are simply people who have confidence in themselves and what they stand for.

They are also first to consider the source. People who purposely set out to be hurtful are usually wounded people themselves.

I take pity on people who are hateful and cynical because they have been wounded. They are just trying to heal and they are just building a protection around themselves.

"Next up I'd like to thank all those teachers over the years in high school and college, and trade school who developed and nurtured my young mind. To the ones that actually helped educate me and help me in a public school environment- I salute you. You're tireless efforts have paid off through influence and direction. To the liberal neurotic godless, creepy, control freak, private agenda wielding teachers and professors- thank your lampshade and your union for your job security- because you're so dumb and unincredible you wouldn't make it in real life. That smell wasn't your success you held so high on a pedastal when you bragged about yourself instead of teaching class- that was me farting pickled eggs and beer farts in your class.(crowd laughs)

"And I'd like to thank allllllllllllll my ex girlfreinds I've had in my life. I have learned so much cynacism from you. Oh my GOD!! Where do I start? The vaginal aptitude? Using your vagina as a weapon? Using your vagina as a brain? Using your vagina as a fishing lure? Especially if its pierced and has jewelry in it. (men laugh- a few women cheer woo! Woo!) Oh my, don't get me started! I want to thank all the women that lied to me, cheated on me, conspired to change me into someone I'm not, get what they wanted, and boot me to the curb to move on to their next victim on their way up the status ladder from dumpster to high society. I've been screwed in the ass by women so many times, I'm thinking of renting it out as a megastorage garage! (crowd laughs- a few boo). No! Seriously for as jaded as it may sound I still love women. I love how they 'have unobtainable needs'. I love how they 'expect men to be 24/7 professional mindreaders with unfathomable godlike perception of guessing all womens problems'. I love their headgames. 'Analyze, critique, ridicule until electroshock therapy' is one of my favorites. (crowd laughs). And 'Tell him what he wants to hear' is one of my personal favorites. And who can forget the headgame 'Test the waters and let's see how many lies I can get away with and how many times I can cheat on him before he leaves'. I'd like to thank the women who used me financially and emotionally and spiritually as a crutch. I'm hoping your new crutches are getting you by because you pushed me until I went over the edge and I drove over you with a car. (crowd snickers). No. I'm joking. I want to thank all the ex girlfreinds who never checked their own expectations and had unrealistic expectations of me. And I want to thank the exes that thought unconditional love meant- 'Will love me no matter what poor choices I make from smoking crack to becoming an abusive alcoholic'. I want to thank all the exes that blamed everyone and everything for their own problems that they were stupid enough to get themselves into and not smart enough to get themselves out of. The lack of personal accountability was incredible beyond contempt. I'm amazed that you never once ran out of people to blame for your dramatic crap!!! It just blew my mind!!! All of this helped make me into the man I am today when it involves relationships. Cynical and sarcastic with a twisted sense of humor about it. Thanks ladies!!!

"And last but not least I'd like to thank everybody here for this award I receive. I want to thank the founders and directors of the site. Mike, Van, Charles, Tim, John, Bill, Fred, Louis, Marcus, Lucy, and all the rest. I try to stay out of your way. You continue to do an admirable job and I salute you. The zombiEharmony dot com spoof is funny as can be. I was rolling. I have given you a few moments of sarcastic terror but I assure you I haven't meant any harm. I was just trying to be funny. I'd like to thank all the moderators on here. You keep me in line when I cross over to the dark side or just go too far with my humor. You gotta admit you were laughing your butt off as you were deleting the threads. I have the utmost respect for all of you here in our sandbox. I'd like to thank all the people on my freinds list and all my fans- who actually get the fact that- I'm joking! I'm sarcastically joking with cynical overtones most of the time. For all you realists out there who believe- keep on believing. I respect you for not getting caught up in believing all the crap, lies, and distorted facts the media and net, and gossip mongers and drama peddlers hand you. I salute you. So thanks everyone!!! I love you all"!!!!!! (crowd cheers and stands in ovation as longhairbiker leaves the stage shaking his 'Cyndie' high over his head in triumph and glory).

In defense of cynicism, since it seems to be getting a bad rap around here, there are a few things I would like to say:

1. Cynicism is a learned behavior. No one is born cynical -- I know that's hard to believe -- but you tend to become more and more cynical when people are constantly placing bombs in your car or throwing Chia pets through your windows at 3:22 in the morning.

2. Cynicism, underneath it all, is a survival skill, much like jousting or synchronized swimming. Properly applied, cynicism allows us to avoid being abused by the same schemes (and, often, the same people) we've been hurt by before.

3. Cynicism contains no harmful additives, is caffeine-free, and has never been shown to cause mange or Dutch Elm Disease.

4. If Charles Darwin were alive today, he would be almost unimaginably old. But he would also say (assuming his mind was still intact, which, at that age, would be a miracle) that cynicism is actually just another means of "natural selection," i.e., the cynical among us are inherently more careful about getting involved in things that might be bad for them. Which, in turn, leads to a longer life span, and more opportunities to pass those cynical genes on to the next generation, if only there was anyone worth meeting on a dating site.

5. People who are not cynical are obviously possessed by demons.

In closing, let me just say that cynicism, despite its ugly reputation and the fact that most people can't spell it, is actually our friend.

I propose that we all lobby for an International Cynicism Day, although I doubt that anyone will take it seriously.

I'm in, Lex.

Long live the cynics!!!!!drinker

That kind of stuff goes both ways. And now a word from my inner cynic on relationships.

I would like to thank all the control freak boyfriends I have known intimately who think that once they sleep with you they totally own your body and your ass and have a free "get into your pants" card anytime they want it and who think they are doing you a big favor by proposing marriage.

I would like to thank my two ex-husbands for teaching me the reason they get married is so that they can claim you as their own personal: take your pick:

1. Whore
2. House keeper
3. Secretary
4. Nurse
5. Cook
6. Servant
7. Hostess and companion
8. Mother for your kids
9. Partner
10. Fill in this one with anything.

For this I am thankful, for I have found the key to happiness in within and not with another person.

Lex

A cynic would not question why the communication with her stopped....He would just take it...Where I would march right in and ask why? A cynic will be left wondering where I would at least get a, it just wasn't working for me.

Don't you get it Lex everyone goes through trials and tribulations it's part of life for goodness sake. So hide because you can't let the nasty in....like I said before you might as well be dead.

This is how I look at it...of course through rose colored glasses. Every relationship that you have is basically a stepping stone in finding that one true one. But build walls and keep them there...well that is how your going to live you life. Learn from past mistakes and then let it be the past (that is why it is called the past) and move forward.

There are no guarantees in life....but also it is called LIFE for a reason live it...don't hide from it because you have been hurt in the past. It would blow your mind all the crap I have been through in my life. Never once did I get a cynical or build walls attitude..Life is for the living and if your not going to live it then what is the purpose.

You stay in a cynical suspicious mode you will never find love, because people on the whole are perceptive and they will run from you each and every time. And I am not saying this at all to be mean Lex because you know I adore the socks of you....but more to see why this won't ever work.

I have had people say that if I wasn't so damn bold with what I say and so truthful they don't even put up with this from people in real life..And they have even said I would kick your arce...But then in the same breath they say but dang Debbie you are right and you speak truth and do it from a place of love. Lex I can't even count all the people on mingle that I have had this talk with...I made them take down their walls and look at the world as the lovely, amazing quest that it is....Guess what they found love, they learned to come out of their shells and they started trusting again.

And again to say more bad people then good......this world is geared to watching news of all the bad and nasty....But there is also a whole lot of good out there....and people doing strictly for the sake of doing out of love and compassion.

Have you ever once thought that the attitude is what brings the ugly.....I have an attitude of love and compassion and I tend to attract the same like people...Do you Think there is a reason for that....HELL YES.

You will never recognize good because you don't take the time to smell the roses, you just grumply prune them.

When you put your hand on a hot stove burner, or stick your finger in a light socket, chances are good to excellent that you learn from that mistake and take all the necessary precautions so that you do not make the same mistake again. You don't say, "Oh, gee, that was in the past, I don't think that'll happen again," and then proceed to put your hand on that stove or your finger in that socket again.

Incidentally, who says everybody WANTS "love"? Why would I want something that I am perfectly happy without having the hassle and headache of? I've never been a fan of self-mutilation.

A fella can only take so much of getting beaten down, twisted around and generally screwed over before he just says " To hell with it " and starts looking at things through the lenses of cynicism.

I don't think it's fair to say that when you don't know the details of the women's lives here.
