how a completely talentless band like Duran Duran still enters into a conversation about the best of anything?

I was a huge U2 fan and still love the Edge, but I agree. Their time is done. The last two albums have mostly sucked.

Duran Duran is okay to listen to for a laugh but "Greatest" is not where they belong. They just so happen to have sold a ton of albums so that would be the reason why they might enter a conversation as "Greatest". That and some people like that sort of music. I'm not knocking you fans though. I might even listen to them every now and then.

I think maybe it'll be okay for me to listen to them if I borrow someone else's ears. Preferably someone who is tone deaf or has much worse hearing than me.


I don't get it and never will. I'm sure there is stuff I like that some will say, "what the hell is that?" But Duran Duran... Geez.... Image sells. There can be no other explanation.

hey, i like duran duran. and some def leppard, but i will admit that if you are going to sit down and look at them under a microscope that both bands are bland. but to just put them on and to have something to move to, they're alright.

There are a lot of talented artists and musicians out there I don't like either, but just because that's my opinion doesn't mean they suck. Me personally, I don't understand the fascination with The Beatles for example, but does that mean they suck? I don't like Michael Jackson at all, hated Thriller, never bought a single album of homedude, but even though he's gone off the deep end I can't say he sucks. Duran Duran writes their own music, performs it live actually playing real live instruments plugged into actual amplifiers and such without lip synching, and they've stood the test of time, which is more then I can say for a lot of other "popular" bands that popped up around the same time and then vanished.

Probably the MOST liked Singer, Writer, Player, etc... of OUR time was Johnny Cash. Ever go to a concert? He spanned all types of people. You would see people with purple hair and razor blades, People with cowboy boots, Blacks, Whites, Browns, Reds... I even seen a few people that looked like Rockey Horror Picture show actors. lol
