I think it all depends what the shortcomings are and if you are "equipped" to deal with any problems the shortcomings present.

i would like to think that the person i would be with would be too infatuated in me to notice my shortcomings. or perhaps when she saw them, my personality and overall lovingness would outweigh any shortcoming she may see. this has been a lesson in the ideal. |

Either take them as they are -- or don't take them at all.
Since people can't change people, there is a level of compromise when you accept someone in your life. It woudn't be fair to later try and change them or to hold something against them that was initially accepted.

Well I guess it would have to be based on the shortcoming and whether I can live with it or not. There are some shortcomings to large to overcome, and there are some so small as to be considered trivial. If it is a trivial shortcoming yes. I guess I pick my battles.
