As much as I love the space program and possibilities that it represents... I think that there should be cutbacks, but not to cut all funding.

When there are cutbacks, there are job cuts, which leads to more unemployment and uncertainty. In all, will it hurt us worse? Possibly.

Also, when you cut or withdraw funding it is near impossible to re-establish it later.

My Dad used to work for NASA while I was growing up...I gotta at least thank them for putting a roof over our heads & food on the table...

Nasa funding should not be cut, just carefully watched and streamlined.
Many things have come from space program, Lexan Plastic, High heat silicones, Radio Communications, Radar Communications, Cell Phone technology, Micro wave Technology, GPS tracking, sattelitle Technology. etc. etc.
Nasa has been the test tube for many of these discoveries.

we are in the beginning phase of private commercial space flight overtaking NASA. it'll take another 20 to 50 years but it's happening

New Mexico is building a private commercial spaceport that will take most of the load off Houston and Cape Canaveral

Branson is already building commercial space transports and has sold out the seating in advance

NASA needs to be redefined as a government entity and their mission needs to be readdressed
