Sallie Mae is the nation's leading provider of student loans. They help millions of Americans to go to college. These loans are paid back with interest and they're bringing 2,000 jobs back to the United States. NoGames, it sounds good to me.

Gee 2000 jobs...

that one, should have been here in the US in the first place.

and two, Millions of Americans... Or millions of students from arround the world?

2000 jobs is a token and a simple math exercise will show how meager it is.

Looks more like political manuevering to me.

Little sugar on the pile of dog poop so you dont notice the dried feces underneath.

Baby steps, Adventure, baby steps. It's a step in the right direction.

Sallie Mae offers student loans to H1B applicants. Bringing students from overseas.

Non-U.S. students
FAQs for international students studying in the U.S.

For international students who do not yet have a valid Social Security number (SSN), we can accept the first loan application with an "administrative SSN" that will be assigned by Sallie Mae. For future loans, it is preferred that borrowers apply with a valid SSN, but if borrowers are not able to obtain a valid SSN, they may be allowed to use the administrative SSN for all future private loans with Sallie Mae.
I don't understand how a lender can use the administrative SSN. A loophole for Illegals?

Baby steps, Adventure, baby steps. It's a step in the right direction.

It is a simple move by an orginization that can be influenced by the governemtn to make what is happening appear to be not as bad as it is.

Simple Political Manuevering.

Fool the masses and perhaps they wont see what the other hand is doing.

It states, to qualify a valid SSN is needed. A Legal applicant has one.
An Illegal, already in the country could use the administrative SSN to get a loan.

You didn't answer my question, student comes here legally with proper paperwork - are they still considered illegal? Because I can't see how they would need to apply for a social security number.

No, the Legal applicant isn't considered Illegal.

I was referring to a loophole for the Illegal who is already here.

can't please most people

here are jobs coming back to the states yet most want to complain about how they shouldn't have gone in the first place. Notice they didn't need a bailout to get their affairs in order
