Love that pic of the customs dogs. Says so much about things today.
Thanks Motown, is it raining there?

when I first started 'looking' on the internet to meet people, I will admit that I was not serious about it. My girlfriend had come to visit and told me that I needed to sign up for some dating sites. I did not go out much so meeting people really only happened through work/meetings. She signed me up for a few sites and I forgot about them for the most part...then something happened that changed my life very significantly and I needed to interact with people...just to keep my mind sane...

so, I started posting in a forum on another site...and over time, I meet many people...I learned a lot about getting to know people on the internet...

Yup, I was scammed originally...and learned very quickly to spot the people who did not appear "real" to me...not that I cared, I just did not interact with them...

I got to know a few people quite well through the forums, and read their thoughts on various things...started a friendship...and even dated a couple of the men...

I traveled to meet people and people traveled to meet me..(I live way far away from most people!! here in da UP of MI!!)

I made some fantastic friendships and cherish them still...I also met someone whom I love dearly...we started out as friends...emailed, talked on the phone...chatted...talked on the phone for about a year before we ever met...actually, we were not thinking about having a romantic relationship until we met for the first time...then it just seemed like our love had always been...

a couple of things that I learned:

~I talked to people on the phone as soon as possible, and at all different times of the day/evening/weekday/weekend

~I discussed current things that were relevant to things he had said

~ I kept some notes sometimes, and I kept some of the emails that were sent so I could see the consistency over time

~I met potential dates as soon as possible, nothing like a face to face meeting in a public place with others people knowing where you are going to be and possible to bring someone with you if you feel necessary

~it is not really all that different dating via the internet vs. dating someone not on the internet, cause IF you are going to date, it is going to be in person...until then, it is just a friendship, IMO.

~just as outside the internet, safety is important...both for men and women!!

~IF it feels like there is something wrong, then there generally is..that 'gut' feeling is generally pretty accurate...

~have fun, be yourself, and relax!!
