does anyone else miss the times before cell phones, where people would just leave a message at home and u can't be tracked down every five minutes.

I can honestly say no. I need my cell phone, especially with my line of work. I feel naked without it.

I have to have mine on 24/7 due to being on-call for work. I do, however, miss the days when I had a pager that I could "lose" with less difficulty than I can "lose" my phone :)

There are many times when I wish I weren't so 'connected' to the rest of the world. But I still maintain some behaviors/rules from the old days. Unless I fear an emergency, I don't talk on the phone during meals or when out with friends or a date. Also, I do not keep my cell with me at all times...but I do check for messages frequently as there are a few folks who are ill and depend on me.

Ah yes the days gone past , rotary phones, no cable, having to get up to change the station on the tv & when you got sent to your room there wasn't a damn thing to do while you were there.

Same here. I am on call for work and would be 100% impossible without my cell.

I had a trac fone ( prepaid ) for a while just to see before I committed to getting a cell phone... guess what? I don't have a cell phone. people have forgotten how to converse with each other face to face. Its like the commercial when they have a couple kissing... thats the first instant message... Besides that I find it rude of people who walk around with their damn cell crammed into their head . Not paying attention to others around them , Driving etc.. And I can do with out one. I like the fact I don't have to be talking to everyone or just anyone at all times. Its just like being here on mingles.. do I get involved with every single forum or post? nope. I have better things to do in life ...bigsmile

My father thought of me as his T.V. remote...oh, and no such thing as a 'private' conversation when I was a teenager, either. My father was hanging on every word. whoa

I was one of the last holdouts at least until 2003. then I realized I couldn't leave home during business hours without one. Now I too am one of those rude SOBs who might be talking to thin air or someone on the phone, letting the observer identify the difference due to the flashing blue light.

I had a radio-telephone in a freaking Ford Pinto in 1977. Got the first car phone ever put ut when only the president of Cellunet ad I had it, moved up to the Motorola Brick when it came out. Still have a cell phone but I NEVER call anyone. My friends think I'm dead. (No PatsFan..not wish..THINK lol) When people call me it goes something like this "Hello".."Yes".."No".."Bye". If Im busy or with company, dont answer it. It takes messages. COOL!

But I always gotta have one. Not the latest or greatest and I dont text, have tones, etc. Just ringy ding ding hello and goodbye.
