I was thinking about a bad date that I went on a couple of years ago... When he picked me up, the passenger seat was full of papers & junk...the floorboard needed a steamshovel...
What are your first indications that this might just be the Date From Hell...& why don't we listen to our instincts?

No respect. Whatever kind of jalopy I was driving was always a clean jalopy when a woman was going to ride in it. She may not have liked my car, but she couldn't complain that it was a pig sty.

My worst date ever was with a guy who informed me midway through dinner that he wasn't planning to drive me home because he was "too tired". He told me I could crash at his house or walk, it was my choice :/ This was before cell phones, so I used the restaurant phone to call a friend and walked out as soon as she arrived.

There were two child car seats in the backseat. We had talked for 3 weeks, and she said absolutely nothing about having kids. Don't get me wrong, I love kids, but how can someone just NOT mention them. Every single parent I know brags. Not her.

When she arrives looking exactly (despite a decent photo on site)like Mrs Doubtfire with a bag which appears to have ALL her belongings in it

When you call them to arrange a date and their mom picks up the phone. Then she tell you to hold on while she pulls him away from his World of Warcraft game. And you hear her b!tching at him to take out the trash before she'll let him borrow her car to go pick you up.

I rarely have any passengers in either of my vehicles. Despite that, it's kind of a matter of personality and/or function. My truck is my work truck, and it looks and operates as such. I'm not overly concerned if there's tools or fast food wrappers on the floor of the passenger side. I don't care if it ever gets vacuumed or washed. Every now and then, I'll pull up alongside the dumpster and unload.
My car, on the other hand....that's an entirely different ballgame. I'm pretty particular when it comes to that vehicle, and it gets cleaned regularly, inside and out, whether it needs it or not. |
