When they ask how much I make... its a done deal...I am out of there. to many people who claim to be looking for a relationship base it on material things/ finances.

I can support myself and even 1 other person if need be. to me its an issue I have about dating sites.

I've supported myself and two others for about 20 years...
I am just really surprised that anybody would even ask this! I apparently am seriously out of touch...

On the other hand, asking what someone does for a living seems natural (we tend to spend a lot of time at work) and that too has been shot down in a couple of forum threads as being gold-digger-ish.

I guess I'll never figure out the rules! tears

I always ask what someone does for a living. I think it's an important part of who they are. If they are sketchy on just saying what they do, it seems odd to me. Maybe because I, like you, don't come from a point of caring what the dollar amount is. Myself, I would just like to find someone that has goals, including at work, and someone that I can find compatibility with. What you choose to do as a career tells a lot about you. Doesn't seem gold digging to me at all.

Only if she had big boobies

Although that was a lie anyhow, as i am already dating a small breasted low income woman!

If i was also on a low income, dating a low income woman wouldnt be preferable, but then thats probably because i have got used to living on a certain amount, and it would be hard to go back to struggling week by week. At the same time, i wouldnt base any dating decisions on what she made, and i would never expect to be 'kept' by anyone.

asking someone what they do is diffrent from asking how much they makeflowerforyou its possible that they haven't met their career goals at this timeflowerforyou

I stopped looking for someone when I lost my job in october, I wouldn't feel right about it.

flowerforyou You shouldn't let that keep you from it.
It is the person they should care about, not all of the other things. flowerforyou

Its perfectly fine to ask what job someone does. You wont always get a good idea what someone makes from the answer anyway. Somebody could turn their nose up at what i do for example(in essence, im a security guard). But my salary is actually fairly good.

flowerforyou I think that the salary someone makes can change as wellflowerforyou as we know things happenflowerforyou you can encourage the person to go to school and get better training so that they can make a higher wageflowerforyou

I would like to think like that as well, but it's a big no-no to Massachusetts women.

Thats true, and also, someone's good salary can be drastically reduced as well. Especially in the current climate.
