there seems to be a new religion ever second popping out of nowhere saying that the end is near and if you don't believe in there way of thinking your doomed in some way or another and some older religions are dying out so does that mean that the old religions are wrong and we should all just throw out the old and get the new hot thing? although im not really religious myself more of a spiritual person I get tired of hearing about what new religion is gaining power. I would like anyone else s thoughts on this.

Perhaps the old religions hold no merit anymore for newer generations as they seek deeper a better understanding of what is or was.

We are always curious to understand more about the big questions philosophers have been asking for hundreds of thousands of years.

If any religion, spiritual following, or logical answer will ever come closer to the answers we seek is for each to determine on their own.

Also for some it is a great opportunity to start a business and create followers. laugh

and some even can be very dangerousindifferent

We are social animals and always need somekind of form of acceptance in society one way or another. Some less then others this is true, but we need to be heard for some reasons.

Whatever the case maybe we have the ability to use our creative minds to seek answers to the best of our ability.

Well it seems "old" and "new" can be a little bit misleading in terms of descriptive value. What many refer to as the "New Age" spirituality movement is essentially nothing more than a re-observance of some very old deities that predate the god of Abraham by thousands of years.

I think the religions such as Christianity, Judaism and Islam are falling by the wayside simply because people are looking for a different focus. Pagan Gods/Goddesses tend to be earth centered and the focus lies there instead of the heavens. Many of these religions place an emphasis on reincarnation and returning to earth so there is more of a sense of urgency to nurture and care for this planet that we all share.

Not necessarily a bad thing when looked at in this light and if its good for the earth, its good for us.

It's been said that "religion" is God's question and man's answers. Even with this little amount of information, one should be able to deduce a lot and lead you down a path (preferrably His) to understanding this God. And the proper answer is a very old one, indeed.

Daniel, thanks for the opportunity to respond. Religion(s) is the works of the Devil. It is man's attempt to "try" to get to God. And, obviously, one persons' attempt will differ from another's as we all can individually be very creative based on the needs that exist in our lives. Thus, the multitude of religions that continue to increase (believe it or not there are over 3 million religions out there). If you take the past and present, I ask you to consider: Jesus Christ was/is the only one who raised from the dead and has power to give life to whomever will put their trust in Him. No one else other than Jesus Christ has ever claimed power over death and sin which brings forth death. (Death being absence from the living God, because we will all live eternally; in Heaven or Hell) The Bible says that Jesus is the same Yesterday, Today, and Forever. He has not changed, ever!! What Jesus proposes is Christianity. True Christianity, is not a religion (again, something we/Devil create) but a real, living relationship. Just as you are your mother's son, and thus have a relationship with her and she with you, so Jesus wants to have a relationship with each and everyone of us. He does not force it upon anyone. Jesus extends an invitation and says, "as a sinner you need to be forgiven, Jesus says come to me and I will forgive you." That decision is up to each and everyone of us. That question still stands today, to you, Daniel....what will you do with Jesus? Take Jesus at His Word and live forever in His presence. May God lead you to HIM, even today. God Bless you.

Think you should do more research on this subject because there are other religions that predate Jesus that have claimed the same things that Jesus did. not trying to discredit your believes just wanted you to know that.

If you consider religions to be defined by how each person has experienced their own spirituality, then there are potentially as many religions as there are people on the face of this earth. Granted, there are lots of people who don't believe in anything or who haven't experienced a spirituality that they can associate with, which reduces the number considerably. Also, the people who want to limit "religion" to what a group of people can agree on or what any particular "religious" book says (dogma), also reduce the number of religions considerably. I think the point behind religion is how each person experiences and can relate to and connect with spirituality and/or higher power.
I, personally, would prefer to find the tidbits of truth that are scattered through-out the "religions" of the world, as I believe that we all have a small part of the truth inherent in us. I also believe that the truth supports and is supported by Nature, in the big, over-all picture. To each his/her own.
