So I am reading this book about spiritual and unexplained happenings in the career of a neurosurgeon. During his rotation in the children' burn unit, he writes.

I'm sure it is a metaphor for something I'm just not sure what....

I believe it was a metaphor for a healthy numbness. When you work in particular fields, it wears on you physically, emotionally and spiritually. Like the doctor mentioned, you keep going, but it is hard.

I believe it was a metaphor for a healthy numbness. When you work in particular fields, it wears on you physically, emotionally and spiritually. Like the doctor mentioned, you keep going, but it is hard. Agreed...a dose of Spiritual Heroin can bring out the "Hero" in all of us...

I don't need to be jump jacked by spirituality once in awhile. I hold faith all the time. It gets tested along with my strengths. But all in all if you have it in the first place you are wiser and stronger.
