I remember sittin on the front porch, on the steps, with my brothers.
No worries, no stress, the worst part of the day was that it was comin
to an end. The sun finally making it's decent, letting the earth and all
it's inhabitants cool down from the scorching heat.

and a root beer float in my hand :D

so tonight, im enjoying one, what is a simple pleasure you still enjoy
from your childhood years?

bottoms up...or spoon in my case :D drinker

We used to play Combat with avocados from our tree. The ones that
survived became guacomole. I miss that tree.

Making tents out in the back yard of blankets.
Spending the night in them.
Then running screaming in the house in the middle of the night when one
of your siblings scares you half to death!!!!
Pretending to be Bigfoot! laugh

gosh I guess I just miss the smell of an evening in NC. We used to play
til it was so dark we could hardly see each other. I lost my brother
last Christmas and just thinking about how we used to play makes me want
to cry.

Sleeping in the barn at night when the neighbor kids would sleep over
and watch the bats dive bomb.

Picking wild blackberries and huckleberries in the woods with my
girlfriend (with our kids who were little at the time) during the
summer.

Taking the kids to the beach and having weenie roasts and toasting
marshmallows. (Now they are grown and we are grannies - no blue hair
though.)

night tag :D

one night, we were playing, i was hiding under the car, and my brother
was "IT". of course the front porch was base.

he was on one end of the yard, i was on the other, and i was the last to
be found yet, so i snuck out from under the car, and ran like my butt
was on fire to the porch, duckin under the clothesline on my way..

i got to the porch, jumped over the rail, and yelled "SAFETY!!" and
looked for my brother. i found him on the ground, about 12 ft from the
porch, laughin like none other. of course i wanted to know what was so
funny he could't chase after me, so i ran over to ask him, laughin at
him cuz his laughing was contagious (of course the neighborhood kids
were gatherin around from the porch by my brother too, some laughin,
some wonderin what the heck happened)

my brother finally caught his breath, and told us that while he was
runnin, he didn't see the clothesline, and "clotheslined"
himself....right across the neck..lol

we still laugh at the BRIGHT red line across his throat for the next 3
days lol

The most peaceful and cherished memories for me would have to include
the waterfront, whichever it may have been or continue to be. Pure
relaxation, and the colorful sounds and sights of nature.Just kicking
back and relaxing in the shade...in the great wide open. Wherever peace
and quiet abound...

Mint Milano's. And Stwart's Root Beer. I used to get the root beer with
my Dad after a round of golf at Foothills Golf Course in Sacramento. It
still takes me back to that era in my life, and golfin was really the
only "happy" time I had.

I manage to enjoy the simple pleasures of childhood every day. We all
still have the kid in us and we all still have the ability to play.
The thrill of your first roller coaster ride, the first day of school
jitters, and the taste of cold watermelon on a hot summer afternoon.
Revealing and enjoying the child within is essential. To laugh, love,
and learn. To be able to find wonder in the world no matter how old
or young...
Some pleasures are just plain simple.

What ever happend to play in the
Little kids buildin' castels all they understood
Thinkin' but not too much about the box where they sat
Was their world and all that was in it was good
Playin' all day 'till the street light came on
And momma call you home for fryed chicken n mash tators
say a little prayer and a bath good night
Life so simple return to the next days
It was back to that sandbox praise
Sandbox praise
So dig your hands in the dirt
Children we play with that earth

The question again phrased a little differant
Whatever happened to my beutiful innocence
I can't remember when but it faded away
Got lost along the shuffle bout the 7th grade
Never know why or when or where it went
But I'd sure like to find a little bit of innocence
Soemtimes I have to stop and ask why
Thing always catchin' up with you and me 'till I die
Cuz you know they say what you reap you sow
Yet responsiblity I always seem to throw away in my faith
Got to get back to the memories
