it depends on the pitch of the blade

in the winter you want it to suck air up and mix the heated air on the ceiling with the cool air from the floor and the mixed air drops along the walls

in the summer you want it to push air down and create a breeze

Do what i did, turn fan on if air comes down you got it right, if it feels like the air is going up, you got it wrong. easy huh

there isn't a switch on top just below the motor? like an off/on type switch?
