Topic: Women On The Front Line | |
---|---|
Should women who want to serve in 'front line' positions, be able to do so? Should the military open up the job fields to women if they want to do it an are physically capable of doin the job?

since I've never been in the military....I can kinda see the pro's and con's of it
some women aren't physically able as men for hand to hand combat etc. some men would instinctly try to protect the women. so I don't know |

Why not? If they can meet the same requirements as men to serve on the front lines.

I believe that if women want to join the military, they should enjoy the same benefits as men,but also take the same risks as men do. Otherwise, they have no business being in the military.

![]() Rose, I said IF a woman was physically capable of doin the job, Hun. Thomas, ur a peach lcjw, I agree Mirror, Women in the military get raped on bases in the US. Do u not recall the gang rapes in the news awhile back? JMO, I served in the Air Force. I was denied a position as a Pararescue operator. Mind u this was in 1986. I don't know if this position is now open to women or not. But, my point bein, I wasn't even given the opportunity to show if I could physical do the job or not. I was told flat out because I was female I couldn't do the job because it was considered a 'front line' position due to the fact that u go in by chopper an drop in to evacuate wounded an cut off troops. I feel that I should have been given an opportunity to prove myself. I feel that my life is no more valuable than the next person in the military. The Coast Guard has opened Rescue Swimmer positions to women an I appluad them for it. I say the military should open all jobs to women. If they are capable of doin the job then let them do it. ![]() |

![]() ok..but the comment about the men treating the women different still stand. some (by instinct) might try to protect the women instead of doing what he would normally do with a male but again...never served...so i'm talking out of my.... |

U know I'm gonna point out the technicalities ![]() In my view if a man is more willin to protect a woman than a man, then the problem lies with those men not the women. He needs to taught she's there doin a job the same as him an is in just as much danger as any of his brothers in arms. |

Mirror, I get ur point, Hun. My point is women can get raped on bases on US soil also an do. Much more than u hear on the news. I've been in the military, I know this for a fact. The job a woman is in doesn't determine her chance of gettin raped.
