I have Vista on my laptop. I had Yahoo messenger for Vista until tonight when I tried to do a conference with two people who didn't have Vista. So, I uninstalled it and tried to install Y.M 9.0. It has told me (twice) that it is downloaded and close the window to begin using it, but it is not appearing on my desktop and it is not showing under "all programs". Where did it go?? CAN you even load messenger on a comp running Vista if it is not the Y.M. made For Vista?

Thanks!

Well my Messenger for Vista ran just fine. It just doesn't have a lot of the same features and the three of us couldn't do a conference since I had Vista. So I uninstalled it. I may just have to go back and get Vista Y.M. loaded again.

There IS nothing to uninstall. I already uninstalled Vista and was trying to find out where the 9.0 went that I downloaded.

Anyway............I'll just go back and re install my Vista.

I don't believe the other parties have to have the vista version.

Huh? Would that mean you've had "much luck" with it, or that you "haven't had much luck" with it? huh

Either way, it's better than the Yahoo Messenger program by leaps and bounds, as it's just much more stable. Or at least that's what I've found, that is.

Mine runs just fine with Vista. Be sure you installed it fully. Go to your start menu and type in Yahoo Messenger into the search bar. It should pull it up for you and when you use it it should show up on your startup program menu.

You can also try using meebo. (www.meebo.com)
It transforms your web browser into an IM client that combines Yahoo, MSN, AIM, Gchat, mostly anything and requires no installation.

Great for times where people are incompatible with version numbers.
