NJ man on 15th drunken-driving offense: I'm guilty
5 hours ago MORRISTOWN, N.J. — A New Jersey man whose driver's license has been suspended 78 times has pleaded guilty to his 15th drunken-driving offense. Shaun Campbell of East Rutherford told a judge Tuesday that he had been drinking "quite a bit" of beer when he crashed his SUV head-on into a pickup in April. The truck's occupants, a man and his 4-year-old daughter, were not seriously hurt. The 40-year-old Campbell's blood-alcohol level was .288 percent, more than triple the state's legal limit. Authorities say Campbell's license has been suspended 78 times in 22 years. He still faces drunken-driving charges in two other New Jersey cities. Prosecutors are seeking a maximum prison term of nearly three years at Campbell's sentencing in August. He will lose his license for at least 10 more years. |

My poor brother-in-law drank himself to death after 28 dwi's.
He was indeed addicted. He was only 48. He even ran his truck into a rural police station and told the cops they couldn't arrest him be cause they didn't see him driving. |

This guy should've been put in prison long ago. It's a miracle he hasn't killed anyone.

My brother in law was put in prison for 3-6 years at a time. They made their own alcohol in there too.

He even ran his truck into a rural police station and told the cops they couldn't arrest him be cause they didn't see him driving. i had a cousin he died from alcohol poison he and his sisters were partying one nite, and im not actualy sure what happen but he was rushed to the hospitol where he died he was only 28yrs old and he left behind 3kids(he died 20yrs ago) and the nite before his funeral his sisters and his mom were parting. you figure they should learn there lesson.. (but his mom is alcoholic any how) but after so many years his sisters now are sober and they quit partying.... at least they got there head on streght |

WoW!! in order to have his license suspended that many times, the police/law would have had to give it back to him each and every time!! not that anyone "needs" a license to drive...this guy would probably drive if they took his license away anyway...so, obviously having his license suspended did not make an impact, I doubt that taking it away will either... now, the years behind bars will definitely get him off the streets! regardless if he gets clean in prison or not..he will not be driving drunk anyway. the nite before his funeral his sisters and his mom were parting. you figure they should learn there lesson.. (but his mom is alcoholic any how) but after so many years his sisters now are sober and they quit partying.... at least they got there head on streght and you can party without drinking... |

so, now that we all know that the state of NJ knows of this person, and has given him his license back 78 TIMES, would people then hold the state of NJ partially responsible if he had badly hurt or killed someone? should the state be partially responsible knowing that the person had done something to get his license suspended 78 times, yet they let him legally drive? knowing that this person had 14 DUI/OWI, they legally let him drive? |

 UNBELIEVABLE.....when they start charging these idiots with murder..as in charges that let you sit in prison 15... 25 years...instead of vehicular manslaughter...maybe people will think twice....I just hate drunk drivers

i got on DUI and it cost me about $900 in fines (or more, i dont remember) a year of probation, my lisence taken for 2 months and restricted for a year and i blew right at the legal limit of 0.08. to get a second DUI would have cost more and dubble the probation from what the lawyer said. so 15 DUI`s in 24 years of driving is just insane and to have his license suspended 78 times! that means it was suspended 3 or more times a year, thats assuming he got his license when he was 16 WOW! also i`m assuming he got a dui once every |

I can say with great satisfaction that while workin as a bookin deputy at the county jail, I was responsible for a man bein charged with a felony drunk drivin rather than a misdemeanor. The arrestin deputy was unaware that he had 2 prior misdemeanor convictions in the past 5 yrs. I have no shame in knowin that because of me, the man is now doin time in state prison.
