I think most states have a smoking ban in place now.

Most states have an indoor smoking ban, some are more strict than others. Here in Virginia, smoking is banned in all public indoor spaces, unless they have a separate room with separate ventilation. Bars and restaurants, technically, could still have smoking sections, if they are willing to pay for the renovations. You can still smoke at bars and restaurants in the outside seating areas, though.

I smoke and don't have any problem with going outside, it's a pain in the *** sometimes but it's a choice I make. But, I think that non-smokers who make an issue of me smoking OUTSIDE need to just stfu. If it's clearly a smoking area, then they need to stay away from it. JMO

In NY, you cannot smoke in any public place. Some hospital's are like this outside of the building. If a building has an overhang, you must be 30 feet away from that overhang.

Thats dumb!! I can understand not smoking inside but outside now..WTF?!?!?

If that happens they are taking our rights away slowly. I don't smoke anymore but still its just not right. Whats next? telling fat people they can't eat in public because it bothers overs?

If a restaurant has outdoor seating, you can't smoke there either.

I think the non smokers imposing all these bans are greedy hypocrits  rant
They have NO issue what so ever using the tax money generated by cigarettes and paid for by smokers. If everyone all at once quit smoking there would be CHAOS. Thousands and thousands of people would lose their jobs.
HOWEVER, they want to raise the taxes to get themselves out of their deficits, so they can continue to blow the money on however they see fit, and then turn around and ban everywhere you can smoke because it's "Bad for you" and try to make seem like the ban is MY benefit. grumble grumble bunch of greedy hypocrits grumble

I remember the good ole days when I walked into a McDonald's in Kentucky and asked "Where's the smoking section?". The guy behind the counter just replied "Wherever you put your ashtray".

And then they say that it's better for business owners, like bar and restaraunt owners to ban smoking because all the non smokers will "be able to come out" more often. Uh huh... yes. That lasted like a week. No we're all stuck smoking outside, IF we even go out that much... just to give more comfort to the non smokers that may... or may not come out.
I've seen many businesses in my area lose money hand over fist since the smoking bans were put in place. Some even had to close.
