that is nothing different or new...

that is the way that health care is now, so that is not going to be any change.

you even have to wait to get a prior authorization for treatment with the best insurance policies...

really, the waiting game is nothing new...it has been going on for the 30-35 years I have been in various areas of health care, both professionally and personally...

Compare it to the VA which IS government health care...

Yeah, I took a number two nights ago.

I took my child to the ER at the children's hospital on Sunday night around midnight.

The doctor didn't see us until 4:30 in the morning. We got home around 5:30 a.m.

Isn't that pretty much what you have to do anyway? Even if you make an appointment for a certain time, you almost always have to wait quite a while. If you go to an emergency room, you'll have to wait a long while. So, is that going to be a whole lot different?

I don't know why some folks don't know this already, unless those against it are appealing to people that have never experienced the waits.

My cousin might be losing her home because of medical costs for her son. She thought that she would be living there the rest of her life.

Well, at least you get treated like a person(most of the time) and you are not just a number. Government programs speak volumes to this....inefficiency that is.

Also, wouldn't having a wait be better than not having insurance because you couldn't afford it?

I have insurance. I was treated like a number Sunday night. It took 4 and 1/2 hours for a doc to see my child in the ER.

I am not saying that government is any better, but the arguments you put forth in this thread are just not impressive to me!!

Have you worked in the health care system??? believe me, there is so much that is NOT efficient at all!

You may get treated like a person sometimes, there is no guarantee about that though, and there is NOT any regulations that say you have to be...

I am not all in favor or against health care reform...I am more for it, although, not the government...

so, the waiting, the inefficiency and the impersonal treatment are not 'exclusive' to government...IMO.

I don't care about their bedside manner as much as just getting the job done. I think it's going to take some adjustment in attitudes of everyone including us. I don't go to a doctor or the emergency unless it's an emergency yet I see some going for a minor issue more than they should. I think people in general should educate themselves on ways to treat themselves for minor things, that alone would help out. But the attitudes of those against it really are a bit uncaring.

There is inefficiency right now where it's 'not' goverment run.

It might be against the confidentiality code to say the persons name...

No one said the system we have now was efficient....
But for your argument to be valid you would need to argue that if the government took on healthcare it would be more efficient than it is now. I don't believe that WILL EVER HAPPEN WHEN OUR GOVERNMENT IS INVOLVED IN ANYTHING

They called my child's name three hours after we got there - 3:00 a.m.

Then it was another hour and a half until we saw the doctor - 4:30 a.m.

Well we have never known anything with out trying it first. If what we have is not working I am for trying something else. I don't see fixing what we have as anything but a bandade and insurer's will just figure a way around any new laws.

I'm almost 60, it won't be an issue for me for that much longer, but the younger generation is going to have to deal with this pretty dang soon of watch health care only cater to the very rich..

So a government public option is going to fix that???

Congress needs to get all the lobbyist out of their back pocket and
step up and legislate, regulate, and reform health care as it now exist.

I'm sure those with no insurance would rather have to wait and finally see a doctor than wait and and just stay sick or get sicker...
