I am my own thinker
never one to follow crowds
To do what is "the norm"
sometimes makes me scream out loud.

I have my set of values
they may differ much from yours
But in my heart I know they're right
They've opened lots of doors.

I'll tell you what I'm thinking,
but I'll use nice words and tact
And when I'm finished speaking
I'll pat you on the back.

Some people call me odd
but they don't wear my shoes
An easy way to criticize
means lots of friends to lose.

To have a thousand so-called buddies
I'd rather have a dozen friends
I'll value each and all of them
and stand by them til the end.

When they ask for favors
If I've got it-Hey, it's yours
Cuz I know when I am needing
there won't be any locked doors.

When they have pains of heart,
or troubles with their kin
My home is open 24
Don't knock, just come on in.

When they are feeling down
I'm just a call away
I'll lose sleep- SO WHAT
Make it up another day.

When they hurt I hurt
sounds cheesy, but it's true
I'm always looking for more friends
Who knows? Next could be you.




This poem goes out to 2 friends of mine that have needed surgeries this week, and to one dear friend that's still missing her son's late girlfriend.

Thanks for all the kind words, folks. I'm just praying for my 3 friends, and hope that some kind words, and knowing that somone is thinking about their sorrows/pain might just make their "Today" a bit more tolerable.
