my boyfriend and i break up, he says it's not going to work out, he says to me that he wants to be friends, i say to him that i don't know if i can do that because that's not what i want it will be to hard. he says he needs to work things out and he doesn't want to keep me waiting he continues with saying that i'm a good person and he still likes me and that he still wants to talk to me and asking me to please not ignore him when he tries to call because he wants to be friends, so at the end of it all i wasn't sure what i was going to do the next day he calls me and i answer and he was so happy i answered the phone because he thought i was going to ignore him but we continued with anormal hi how are you conversation..neither of us has tried to contact each other for the last couple of days which i believe to be a good thing...

anyways i'm really not sure how to take what he said surely it is as simple as lets be friends??

He's not really into you anymore but he also would be irritated if you moved on too fast and started dating someone else.

Thats what that means.

Time to go find someone else.

There's more to this story. Because I've heard this all before. Deja vu in scribe.

Well

Don't read into it

He probably means "friends"

And if your both mature individuals you can do it
I'm great friends with my ex!!

Or

Just give it time. Jmo

If it is hard for you to be friends with him let him work out his issues and let him go

What he actually said was..." I want to have sex with other women, but if the other women that I imagine want to have sex with me, actually don't....be my backstop bootycall girl."

all rolled into....'Aren't I a really NOICE guy?'

Be no man's "fall-back-girl" tell him your true friends DO NOT pick you up and drop you like flotsam and jetsam. And; as a previous poster said, he wants to try new flavours, should it not work out he will come back to dependable you.Now you can stick around ( then post to this forum how badly you have been treated by this miscreant) or put your hiking boots on and walk.........

Take it from someone who wasted 2 years of her life being friends with her ex - it's not worth it the long run. It will just delay the moving on process - I just started dating after 8 yrs! The first two I stayed friends with my ex (no booty calls - my choice) only to be totally depressed when he remarried 2 1/2 yrs later. So I feel like it took me alot longer to get to the point where I am ok with myself to get out there again. Move on - I dated my ex 10 1/2 yrs before we married and we broke up every two yrs for 6 months and got back together again - It's not worth it. I might have had a family if I had moved on after the first break up. It's hard but the pain last alot less if you just rip the bandage off quickly. waving

First off I would like to know how long the two of you have been dating before I would comment on this. I think it makes a difference.
