A question...

When someone is in great financial difficulty, what are some of the
first things they do?

Do they 'trim off'/stop paying out to their excesses?

The places that money is going into, that causes a drain?

Do they stop , giving money to people they have quietly helped support
for some time?

DO they re-neg on promises made when they thought they had unlimited
money coming in?

I see a pattern here, and although it is not directly related just to
Immigration, as seen in the Weapons thread, and the Looking Out Your
Window thread...

Is the US so far down the financial hole, through monies poured into
these wars, that the Government leaders are trying to cut back, anywhere
they can, as fast as they can?

If you can feed the neighbours that came in dire times for help, and you
can't feed, or support financially other places in need of assistance,
that you promised you would, what is the first thing you would have to
admit?

Lee, unfortunately our government has no concept of cut-backs. Our
politicians seem to believe that deficit spending is an acceptable way
of doing business.

We will see how much Rep. support Bush has left. It is a small group of
Rep. who have been blocking the current immigration bill. President Bush
is coming home from defeat in Euroupe with thoughts of reviveing the
bill. His task as outlined below is to group his parties objections
together and gain the 15 votes to push it through the Senate:

Senate Democratic leaders wrote Bush on Monday saying it was up to him
to lean on Republicans to back the measure.

"It will take stronger leadership by you to ensure the opponents of the
bill do not block its path forward," the letter said.

Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., said he would be willing to bring
immigration back to the Senate floor in coming weeks if he could be
assured enough Republicans would support the bill.

Proponents gathered Monday evening to plot strategy for reviving the
measure. They are working to agree to a limited list of
Republican-sought changes that could be considered before moving ahead
with the bill.

"Things have changed," said Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., an architect of the
bill. "We're going to put Humpty Dumpty back together."

FROM: Heath Shuler, (US Congressman, NC)

Dear Fanta,

Thank you.....blah blah balh

In the last 5 years, N.C. has seen its illegal immigrant population more
than triple--the largest increase in the U.S.. Our state now has the
ninth largest illegal alien population in the country and is quickly
moving up the list. This illegal immigration population is costing N.C.
taxpayers an estimated $997 million per year for emergency medical care,
education, and incarceration.

blah blah blah legislation is being considered blah blah blah
Please be assured that I will keep your thoughts in mind when I have an
opportunity to act on this legislation...

Just wanted to share this information with everyone, to show the costs
to my state and ensure you I am pressuring my representatives!! $997
million per year, wow thats a lot of money!!!!grumble grumble
