So therefore there is no thing with the opposite sex.

Hmmmm. I guess it's not. I'm very, very lucky though. My BF is in the same town. I'm only not seeing him this week as he and two of his three kids are home sick with the flu!

I've gone out on dates & I have no job to speak of. I was surprised the women didn't care & they liked me. It's tough all over, many people out of work. Adapt to the times I guess.

yep, people are adapting to the times..and re-evaluating their priorities.
I think that's a good thing...

Well I have always thought it was the time spent with the person that was more important than spending a lot of money on dateing. I guess that is why I really dislike the high priced StarBucks thing.

Be a lot more productive to have a cam to see what you are getting into and then actually do something you both need to do or want to do with someone you actually like.

Dateing doing common things like attending a workshop or meeting together, watching a little league sport, going to the carwash, grabbing a fast food lunch, attending and activity at church or charity, cooking treats together, going to a farmer's market or special sale, renting a video, volunteering, or visiting a free school or community event gives you a chance to see a person's interests, meet their friends, or spend time with family and get to know them.

My personal opnion is that doing things more expensive are generally more special to celebrate and existing relationship. I get the feel that a guy is trying to buy my affection it is a real turn off. So that the economy is tending to make guys be a little more conservative of what they spend actually seems to be a plus.

Oh! absolutely that is a great thing indeed.I think that many of us are forced to re-adapt or fall by the wayside. Our overall economy has reared it's ugly head w/ extremely high unemployment rates, serious job losses, high cost overall from housing to fuel. Then this is compounded by the fact that I live in Taxachusetts.

I would prefer that a guy have a good steady job but life is about transitions and sometimes that is looking for a job after looseing one or at my age retireing. If a guy is not expecting me to support him except maybe encourageing words on a beginning date then I am more than glad to give him an opportunity to be a whole person regardless of a temporary situation. Job retraining is not and over night thing. Seeing how a person copes with a major stressor like unemployment or under employment can let you see who someone truely is.
