New group tries to convince Cheney to run in 2012

"Washington (CNN) – A new group wants former Vice President Dick Cheney back in the White House.

The organization - "Draft Dick Cheney 2012" - launched on Friday, and unveiled their new Web site. Their aim: To convince the former vice president to seek the Republican presidential nomination in the next race for the White House. But there may be a major roadblock to the group's pitch - Cheney himself.

"The 2012 race for the Republican nomination for President will be about much more then who will be the party's standard bearer against Barack Obama, the race is about the heart and soul of the GOP," said Christopher Barron, one of the organizers of the Draft Cheney movement. "There is only one person in our party with the experience, political courage and unwavering commitment to the values that made our party strong – and that person is Dick Cheney."

The former vice president has been a frequent outspoken critic of the Obama administration's security policy. He recently suggested that Obama was "dithering" over deciding on adding more U.S. troops to Afghanistan. National polls suggest that the former vice president remains popular among conservatives and Republicans."

if Obama seeks reelection, they'll be running a war criminal too, so guess it'll even out. As usual, I won't be voting for either. I probably will just skip the whole thing.

Killing innocent civilians and attacking foreign countries without a declaration of war sounds like war crimes to me.

Cheney doesnt have the health. Dont people consider a candidates health anymore? And god forbid, in lieu of their candidate having good health, dont they take their VP candidate more seriously? This was another issue that made the McCain/Palin ticket so scary to me. This man seemed to not have the best health, if he should become incapacitated during any major atrocity,,we would have PALIN making the decisions? no thanx

********, this is just the continuation of the Dippic's rules that are also approved by the country of Pakistan. The UN recently ruled drone attacks as illegal and the Obama adminstration may have to make some changes but this is not presently instituted as illegal...not a "war crime"...yet.

"Afghanistan and Pakistan are the central front in the America's war against terrorism and the deteriorating situation in the region poses a grave threat to the global security. It's an international challenge of the highest order. That's why we are pursuing a careful review of our policy," Obama said on Thursday."

So, killing brown people in some other country is okay just because there's no official law? Yeah, this is a big improvement over Bushism. slaphead

Well, that didn't stop them from nominating McCain.

This group isn't really serious, this is just more mop-up of the Dippic's and Chainy's lagacy by implying Chainy would be a viable candidate...

Just more Rovean tactics...that's about it.

I think people nominated him because they saw him as representing whatever political philosophies and personal priorities they wished to see addressed, just as I did for OBama.

As to Cheney, I do recall him being 'under the weather' quite often in his vice presidency , why would people expect his presidency to be any different.

ANd, unfortunately, I dont think Cheney has been convicted of war crimes either,,,or did I miss it?

Of course not! It's never wrong when your side does it!

The fact that this thread differentiates from one side being criminals and the other not speaks worlds about how seriously it should be taken. I especially like the photoshopped images and cute video clip of McCain. Totally makes me want to take anything you say seriously.

I lean independent...and I am upset that President Obama has not set firm withdrawal policies for these wars we were LIED into by these aforementioned criminals, I still don't see President Obama is a "war crininal". Lame attempt to change the subject.

You RW nutbags who'd like to ignore that your GOP criminal agendas should go unpunished shows a lack of respect for the Constitution as well as true Ameican values concerning justice.

My "side" is with truth not a political party's strategy designed to deny/ignore the past....thus re-live the worst of it.

His nomination shocked me during the campaign. Even Rudy Giuliani and that Mass..mormon guy was doing a lot better than McCain. His sudden rise out of nowhere during the campaign was something I am still intruiged with...something fishy was going on when Giuliani dropped out of the race and so was that priest guy with the crazy eye...he pretty much swept up the bible belt .

So I don't know how and where McCain got an edge..it was all weird...to see him gaining popularity almost out of nowhere.

Well to be fair McCain was the better candidate for the GOP in 2000 but he was not favorable to the neo-cons so the Dippic swiftboated him and got the nomination. The GOP had to fix the vote to even get the Dippic into office and the rest is history...but McCain was not near the man in '08 that he was in '00 and the addition of Palin doomed his candidacy...

I like John McCain personally and appreciate his serving, something chickenhawks like Chainy (5 deferments) and the champaign squadron Dippic (who could not pass a drug test to stay in the military) could possibly know about. Serving the country.

As for Giuliani...welll he dressed up a woman one too many times...lol.
