Even Christmas trees die

Fifty years ago
a small embryonic plant
escaped from the bag
wedged unto an earthen womb
nine months to be entombed
warmth from winter's cold
spring brought sapling growth
summer delivered handsome bud
while fall winds cried

the seasons came and went
as sapling grasped the light
only to wish for darkness
for tears caress the night
morning dew dissipates
leaving nary a trace
of the past scars
upon a tree's face

families laugh
while children play
upon thy branch
of noose sway
tire and rope
swing lonely now
peaceful journeys
from traveling fowl

age is a blade
cutting oh so deep
sap runs freely
toward eternal sleep.

This, as most you do, was very, very heart felt and good.
and made me also think to much, wink
I hope you won't mind.flowerforyou
another for others to feel your write.

Precious is life, so bold and free
beauty becomes it, all yearning to see.
we strive to take its life
kill it, slowly, sawing, like a knife
No remorse, no sorrow, will have it up, tomorrow
dress it to shine, as we drink our wine.
Its life now leaving, pleading, to let it go
we hear not its crackling cries, so soft and low
Dried to its core, its needed no-more.
off with its shinny coat, as we drag-it out the door
its tiny remains scattered, all over the floor
Christmas is past, and we all had a blast
as mother nature wipes away her tear,
she waits in mourning, until next year.

drinker flowerforyou Liked the write...

I can't kill a tree and never have. Some call me a fool, but I'd much
rather see them alive and out in the snow rather than my living room.

Nice ode, you may already like this guy, if not let me introduce you:

I heard him sing this before the CD came out...he said, "I just got my divorce....on the way home I stopped and bought a train set, got home and nailed it to the dining room table"

All the best - John Prine

I wish you love And happiness
I guess I wish you All the best
I wish you don't Do like I do
And ever fall in love with Someone like you
Cause if you fell Just like I did
You'd probably walk around the block like a little kid.
But kids don't know They can only guess
How hard it is To wish you happiness

I guess that love Is like a Christmas card
You decorate a tree You throw it in the yard
It decays and dies And the snowmen melt
Well I once knew love I knew how love felt
Yeah I knew love Love knew me
And when I walked Love walked with me
And I got no hate And I got no pride
Well I got so much love That I cannot hide

Say you drive a Chevy Say you drive a Ford
You say you drive around the town till you just get bored
Then you change your mind For something else to do
And your heart gets bored with your mind and it changes you
Well it's a doggone shame And it's an awful mess
I wish you love I wish you happiness
I wish you love I wish you happiness
I guess I wish you All the best

Truly talented work.
I seriously opened the window with your poem an hour ago and read the first couple lines and decided to give myself time to chill before I went through the journey of your words.

I don't know, man.
I'm just saying you write powerful stuff.
And that was powerful enough to run through brick walls. I hope you understand I'm just trying to represent that I really liked this.
