Israeli settlers in the occupied Palestinian West Bank have vandalised a mosque, torching its library and spraying hate messages in Hebrew on the building.

The attack blamed on hardline Jews on Friday may be linked to plans that seek to curb their illegal settlement activity on land taken from Palestinians.

Clashes erupted as villagers hurled stones at Israeli troops sent to investigate the incident at the mosque in the northern West Bank's Yasuf village. The security forces responded with teargas.

One of the Hebrew language slogans sprayed on a wall read: "Get ready to pay the price." Another read: "We will burn you all."

It is truly sad. I honestly dont understand the process for how we determine who to support in these wars,,all seem to suffer so much.

OSama and George W actually sounded alot alike in the reasons they stated for fighting this war. OSama saw us as supporting those he viewed as terrorists(israeli) and Bush saw the 'axis of evil' as doing the same.

yeah israel historically had a issue with hardline zionist terrorists

I'm trying to remember the name of the organization but it escapes me

but the british had major issues with em in the 50's

extremists of any ilk (whether muslim or baptist or jew) ruin the reputation and legitimacy of the moderate elements of any society

I think America is fighting for World peace,and should do whatever it takes to wipe out all the "evil" in the World.Too many Americans are selfish and think nothing of other people from other countries,well guess what,they are people too,and they need our help.

I understand that. My point was when we HELP someone that is terrorizing someone else,,that causes that groups supporters to want to come HELP them,,, and so on. It seems like an endless cycle with no winners. We HELP some alot more than others and our HELP sometimes gives them the resources to harm others who would obviously then see us as contingent in the attacks,much like Bush claims the 'axis of evil' is.

We bombed the hell out of a christian country(Serbia) in support of muslims(Albania).. What did that get us? A nice kick in the balls.. My view is that if they want to kill each other so be it. They were killing each other long before we came around and nothing is going to stop them now.

When the Dome of the Rock is disassembled and replaced with a New Jewish Temple, then you will know the demon will soon be destroyed?

Not my words, prophecy.

We (I mean american, can't speak for any other country) don't know half of what Israelies are doing to Palestines.

My friend who traveled over to israel actually went off the tourist route and spoke with palestines and saw what was occuring.

Israel is committing major human's right violations. They are walling off settlements and forcing them out. Leaving only a gap in the wall small enough for a person to barely fit through... let alone a vehicle or cart. They are separating families but the walls they are building. Pregnant women are not let through the check points to go to the hospital and end up birthing children at the check points. Children have to pass through checkpoints to go to school because the school is on the other side of the city. Israel is in the wrong here! She didn't excuse the palestines' actions, but they way she put it was... how many times can you poke at the hornets' nest before they react.

they are both in the wrong

the Israeli wall was a reaction to suicide bombers which was a reaction to Israeli actions which were a reaction to Palestinian actions

I doubt the mess will ever get sorted out

Like a lot of folks here on the forums say. We don't care about human rights violations. That is the business that should be left up to the individual countries.

Oh really? Then besides attempting to prevent war, what is the purpose of the UN?

On anther topic about human rights, the poster of this topic stated, "If it's not happening here, then, it's none of our business what is done in another country."

Why get concerned about human rights of one group and ignore the abuses committed by said group?

I don't understand the hypocrisy.

I think there should always be concern for others. however, I think that we can better understand and have the facts of what is happening at home than we can what happens an ocean away. We can fix or try to fix our problems because we are WELL aware of what they are. I think most times that we go into other countries we dont and cant have as much knowledge about the WHOLE picture as that country does which is why I feel its best to let other countries sort out their messes while we take care of our own.

I agree.
Let them kill each other off as long as they don't bring it here.

It's being within and between countries! And I didn't neglect to acknowledge what the other group has done.

According to the Charter of the United Nations, the General Assembly may:

Consider and make recommendations on the general principles of cooperation for maintaining international peace and security, including disarmament;
Discuss any question relating to international peace and security and, except where a dispute or situation is currently being discussed by the Security Council, make recommendations on it;
Discuss, with the same exception, and make recommendations on any questions within the scope of the Charter or affecting the powers and functions of any organ of the United Nations;
Initiate studies and make recommendations to promote international political cooperation, the development and codification of international law, the realization of human rights and fundamental freedoms, and international collaboration in the economic, social, humanitarian, cultural, educational and health fields;
Make recommendations for the peaceful settlement of any situation that might impair friendly relations among nations;

Receive and consider reports from the Security Council and other United Nations organs;
Consider and approve the United Nations budget and establish the financial assessments of Member States;
Elect the non-permanent members of the Security Council and the members of other United Nations councils and organs and, on the recommendation of the Security Council, appoint the Secretary-General.

I do believe that the UN should be making a statement against the Israel.
