Topic: Gun "accidents"??? | |
---|---|
Sure, a person drops one and it goes off blowing the head off their friend, or an owner forgets there's a bullet in the chamber when attempting to clean it and BOOM!....yeah accidents but it seems that everytime someone is killed or hurt in an non-intended non-crime related gun shot it's always on the front end called an "accident",....like the below story the headline immediately calls it, "accidental shooting".
These are teens at a house with no adults present (not reported as an adult there anyway). ~~~ "Girl Accidently Shot" OKLAHOMA CITY -- A 14-year-old girl is in critical condition after being shot inside of a home along the 2800 block of SE 45th Street in Oklahoma City. "She was transported immediately to an area hospital where at last check she was listed in critical condition. There were several other people inside of this residence at that time," said Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow with Oklahoma City Police Department. A couple who lives just a few houses down claim several of the teens inside the home ran to their front door looking for help. "The kids came and knocked on my door and were actually ringing my door bell and was hollering and were saying someone got shot," said Gwen Reed. "When I first got there they said it was an accident. Somebody said that she was trying to put the gun in her pocket and it went off. Then someone said that she held it up to her head and pulled the trigger," said Ocie Reed. Sadly to say the Reeds were not surprised by the shooting because they heard gun shots from that direction just a few hours earlier. After a short investigation, officers determined that 15-year-old Charles Johnson accidently shot the victim Chinyere Clay, who is now in critical condition. "The investigators in this case have still not been able to speak to our victim due to the that fact she is in critical condition, but at this point of our investigation, they do believe it's an accidental shooting and of course, Mr. Johnson was taken into custody on these related charges, " Sgt. Wardlow. Although Johnson is only 15, he is also facing one count of possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. Back in 2008 Johnson was involved in a burglary that happened just a few blocks from this latest scene." ~~~ It's no accident when an adult leaves a gun around people who should not have access to it, it's no accident when an adult lets their kids hang with a felon either. The story quickly concludes it as an accident totally ignoring the laws, how about wreckless endangerment or contributing to the delinquency of a minor?...no, bad publicity might hurt gun sales for the gun industry, AKA the NRA (the spokespeople/lobbyist for the gun industry). It may make some gun owners appear irresponsible...no one asks who owned the gun in this story. http://www.kfor.com/news/kfor-news-accidental-shooting-94-story,0,5677907.story |

you are right. The parents were negligent in securing their gun.

Assuming the parents were the owners of the gun. Nowhere does it say who owned the gun. The 15 year old was charged with possesion of a firearm after a felony. He could quite easily have brought it with him. As for allowing their child to hang out with a felon, they most likely didnt know. She is 14. 14 year olds rebel. I most certainly did, as do almost all kids at some point. To read this story and assume they are lying to cover for the NRA is just wrong. There are many, many things that may have happened there and it is absolutely ridiculous to blame guns for this. Guns dont kill people, people kill people. If guns kill people, does that mean pencils misspell words?? BTW if your so worried about gun sales you should have obama impeached. He is, afterall, the reason gun and ammunition sales have jumped astronomically this year.

LOL, not a lie as much as yet another quick conclusion as an "accident" with no one responsible...if the kid had lit dynamite someone would have asked how and why it was even there...or at least what idiot let kids play with it. And funny, I blame the gun industry shills who used AM static mono radio for the rise in gun ownership...you guys got all hyped up over the lie that Obama is "takin' yer guns away" or "he's not one of us". Paranoia sells. ~~~~ In most major cities anywhere from 25 to 50 handguns are stolen from people's houses every WEEK, ya supposed they could have locked them away while they were not at home...and maybe if their kids were?...ya think? Oh, and how many die from misspelled wUrds again? At least 9.2 kids die per day due to "gun" accidents"...(some are suicide, guns are easy to use for that). |

It may have been the kids, and he may have bought it on the street or stole it. |

true Fanta.
a couple of things bother me though (besides the shooting itself Sadly to say the Reeds were not surprised by the shooting because they heard gun shots from that direction just a few hours earlier. so did they call the cops??? if not, why not? if so, why wasn't anything done? and Although Johnson is only 15, he is also facing one count of possession of a firearm after a felony conviction. Back in 2008 Johnson was involved in a burglary that happened just a few blocks from this latest scene." sorry but if this were my kid, I'd keep a VERY close eye on him to begin with |
