... when you've made friends with someone online, and you've sent them your pic, but they refuse to send you one of themselves?

It's a shame but I always expect the worst when I get pics from people that don't post pics and want to talk to me. I've never been pleasantly surprised.

What if he says he's very unphotogenic and he hates pictures...

Did he ask for your photo or did you volunteer it?

I volunteered it...

Ah well, next time tell the person you only exchange pics. I've been in that position, volunteered my pic and then the guy was like he didn't have one, or it was on his other computer or some such bs. From now on, unless they have one, don't show yours. And make them show first, because sometimes, they lie and after you've shown yours, you still don't get to see theirs.

Hmm ok. But I'm curious about if someone not showing their pics could possibly be innocuous in intent. Does it have to mean that he's lying about something, or could it just be that he's camera shy?

Unless someone breaks cameras, they are photogenic. Everyone never likes every pic they take of themselves. They can still take a pic of themselves. Sometimes I scare small children and dogs if I go out without makeup. I've learned to deal with it. But I still post pics of myself on my profile.

If he doesn't want to send you a pic even after you sent one to him, he most definitely is hiding something. I would tell him you don't feel comfortable talking to him anymore unless he wants to send a pic to you.

Eh, I don't know. I don't show my pics on here because I didn't like the attention I received when I had them up, besides the people who matter to me already know what I look like. As far as your situation, it just seems fair to me if someone shows me their pic for me to show them mine, even if it's just in private. Even if they claim they don't own a camera, it's too easy in this day and age to get someone to snap a photo of you, even if it's a sucky one. And most computers come with cams now, so it's just an excuse, in my opinion.

Besides, it's creepy to talk to a faceless person over a long period of time- you could be talking to anyone- an estranged relative, an old bf, a mass murderer, anyone. If they're unattractive, there's nothing to be done for it. Not showing their pic won't make them beautiful. If you're supposed to be friends, their looks shouldn't matter, but it's nice to put a face to words.

I just wouldn't trust them, mainly because of the experiences I've had in the past with that situation- married, older than they said, not even a man, underage, the list goes on. Friendship means trust and if they don't trust you enough to show their pic, I couldn't be friends with them.

I wonder about anybody on here that doesn't have a photo of themselves posted. People always say how much they value honesty and how they hate liars. One picture is worth a thousand words. You can usually spot a fake or a liar by their photo...especially if it doesn't match what they say about themselves.

I don't post my pics on here because I don't want men contacting me. The people I want to talk to already know what I look like.

Some people may not want to post a pic because of employment (law enforcement, etc) or maybe a business owner.. but they should still be able to send you one privately...

Yeah but it's not like you never posted a pic of yourself. There are pics of me in my profile, just not my avatar. It's cut down on the creep factor.
