Topic: What do you drive?

What kind of vehicle do you drive? Make/model/color? How long have you had it? What made you buy it? Do you have any stories about the vehicle you drive? Do you have a name for it? Do you like it?If you own more than one, which one is your favorite and why? If you were to sell your vehicle, which would you buy next that is in your price range? If you don't own a vehicle, how do you get from place to place?

Here's mine:

30 minutes now, and not a single response. What, are you ashamed of what you drive? C'mon, it's a hunk of metal and plastic, not a status symbol. Share a little, tell us what you drive, and how you're connected to this piece of metal on 4 wheels or 6 if you have a dually.

I do not have a name for her but my GPS's name is Betsy. Named after our office manager who knows everything and never steers me wrong.

Cool, was the Rav 4 one of the recalled vehicles? I only heard Camry and Corrolla. My '89 T-bird I used to own until I gave it to my father was called Betsy. My Dakota I own now is called "the Dolphin."

Why did you choose "white?" Always wondered why anyone would buy a white vehicle, dirt shows up rather easily.

I'll bite :)

a) 1986 Red Porsche 944 Turbo
b) (2) Red 1995 Z28's (convertible auto, t-top 6-speed)
c) 1999 Suzuki GSX-1300R (Hayabusa).
d) 1964 Canary Yellow Buick LaSabre convertible

Depending upon my mood, determines which I drive (or ride);
it's really difficult to nail down what is the deciding factor.

I've not named any of them (but I name my computers :)

I bought the second Z28 because my son just had to have
the convertible, but when I announced I would give it to
him (a couple of months prior to his b/d), he said that
he didn't want it, but wanted a Jeep, so now I have the
two Z's :) Honestly, he's best off in the Jeep - now
that I think about it, the Z would have gotten him into
trouble.

The convertible has a decked out 402, Kooks stainless
headers, a Stage 3 automatic, Yank 3200 stall speed
converter, and a number of other items. On the outside,
it's all stock, for that sleeper effect :) The t-top
is all bone-stock.

The Buick gets the most looks and comments, ranging from
5 year old kids to folks much older than me :) Believe
it or not, it has about 98,000 orig miles on it.

The bike is for thrill seeking. For those not in the know,
the Hayabusa is the fastest production motorcycle in
the world (I've had mine to 205).

My most recent is a 1978 Jeep Grand Cherokee, red. I have it for sale. It was for an investment.

I must say, your canary yellow Buick intrigues me. Nice car. Add another compliment to your list.

Why did you choose "white?" Always wondered why anyone would buy a white vehicle, dirt shows up rather easily.

cause it fit the criteria, it had low miles(55k to date original miles), one previous owner and dirt cheap, original owner had passed away.

A beautiful car to be sure, and you live in Sacramento, so no surprise on the convertible, but tell us why you chose to buy this car? You say you have H/P tires, why? Do you use them as they were meant to, or did you buy them for looks? Have you taken the G/T on a test ride to see what she's made of? Tell us about it?

So it was a grandpa/grandma car. I understand now. My sister recently purchased a '95 Caddy Fleetwood with Chrome plating for 5K in a funeral sale. It's dark blue, has a heck of a V8 engine, and only minor damage. I laugh that she's driving an O/G car but the cops would love to get their hands on such a powerful engine. I hear the Chevy Caprice is very similar to the Caddy Fleetwood.

I'm a gear head and I dabble in drag racing. I keep my car street legal but this is what I play with on the weekends.

This car is owned by a friend and I have "minimal" investments in the car. My business logo is on the nose which is about porportional to my monetary investment (small)!

We race all the big tracks in Cali and Vegas. I've taken it down the track a couple of times with the parachute deploy. It's insanely fun! I want to get my drag license *someday* but for now I just quarter mile my mustang and rally sport.

Yup and if lucky I'll get my beemer the same way.

Wow a 95 Caddy, is it a gas guzzler??? But sweet engine, nice to open up a v8 on open highway and not as flimsy as the newer lighter cars, those hug the roads.

Actually white is a pretty good choice. Doesn't show dirt as bad as black, unless you go mudding with it, and doesn't fade in the sun as much as some other colors. It's also cooler in hot sun.

2001, Honda S2000
1985 300 zx
1965 MGB permanently in storage.
1996 F150 Beater with a heater for winter.

Actually, the ol' Caddy was pretty sweet. I think she gets about 22 mpg on the highway, so not bad. But I was very impressed with the vinyl top, the paint job, the chrome plating, and the easy access engine compartment. I don't ususally care for GM's but this one was well built. My bro' in law, believe it or not wants to put a 10, 000 watt sound system in her. I said, "Call me, when you get it."
