Not what you think, sure they’re selling out casinos and at one time were selling out stadiums but now they are selling out to corporate and political interest groups by headlining a FOX news/T-bagger dog and pony show called……wait for it.

“Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concert”(a)

Also playing is Charlie Daniels. I Love Charlie as well, seen him like 6 times but I know he dips into the right side of the pool sometimes…but this is in the deep end for him as well.

This Skynyrd tour with Hannity is on the heels of a new recording called “God and Guns” where many of the lyrics were written FOR Lynyrd Skynyrd. That’s the first time LS has accept other’s lyrics for any LS tune.

I am sure everyone recalls Lynyrd Skynyrd’s powerful southern rock…they have a unique sound. “Free Bird is often called the best rock song of all time…and with song‘s like Cutris Lowe, That Smell….Tuesday’s Gone“…oh man…they have so many great songs and are an incredible band, but while once their music was written by and for the common man now the band has been bought…by the common industry. This isn’t trade marking logo’s BJ’ing…no this is phucking with reality. FOX? Really? Hannity? Really?

They bought my band!!!

(Skynyrd 2009)

~~~~
I first saw them was in Memphis, TN a few weeks before the October 1977 plane crash that took the lives of Ronnie Van Zant, Steve and Cassie Gaines. I also saw the reunion tour in ‘87, we stood on the arms of the chairs the whole show…they left Ronnie’s bandanna on the mic and played Freebird without any vocals...it was emotional for everyone there, especially the Gaines friends and family who were from the Memphis area....then years later saw them on the Mississippi bluffs, also at The Pyramid, and then last year at Red Rock, OK.
I love this band. But they are going against the original messages and selling out to the nut bags. Ronnie was the lead singer and songwriter for the band. Before Ronnie died he coined lines in song like these:
“Hand guns are made for killin', ain't no good for nothin' else, and if you like your whiskey, you might even shoot yourself
So why don't we dump 'em people To the bottom of the sea, before some fool come around here, Wanna shoot either you or me”(From “Saturday Night Special“)
Now on their new recording here’s the title track…a song that has T-baggery written all over it…as in written by a corporation acting on behalf of a political party and also….STILL using the radical religious element in America.
“God and Guns”
“Last night I heard this politician, talking bout his brand new mission
Liked his plans but they came undone, when he got around to God and guns
I don't know how he grew up©, but it sure wasn't down at the hunting club
Cause if it was he'd understand, just a little bit more about the working man
God and guns, keep us strong, that's what this country was founded on
Well we might as well, give up and run, if we let them take our, god and guns”
(The rest of the song is more repetitive cheerleader crap) Look for yourself(b).
~~~

Well, I doubt this will kick up much dust but to see a great band like this with such a great tradition suck on the money stick is just sickening…how blatant can it get?

No they are in it for the money....they SOLD OUT. We know Hannity and the T-baggers are just big industry shills...sure most are unwittingly doing it but many more know the truth. I do...it's obvious and I think this post proves it...I cannot just let a lie like this pervert the music I love.

This sucks!

Yea, I have been disappointed by a few of the groups I liked in my teens lately,

I don't know if it is the prejudice that is so prominent still in certain groups of people or if they are really too ignorant but it is sad for me either way.

Considering they are older than me, I would expect wiser but it doesn't seem to happen for some people.

Interesting.

So...lemme get this straight.

They don't support Obama...so they are sell outs??

Brilliant deduction there, Sherlock.

Heaven forbid they get paid well for being who they are.

Oh wait. I forgot.

You libs don't want ANYONE getting paid for being good at what they do.

Guess what...Lynyrd Skynyrd has never been a " liberal " band.

They always believed in God, Guns and the U.S.A.

just because they don't agree with YOUR version of it, doesn't mean they sold out anything.

As someone else said, they are doing the shows to stand up for what they believe in.

They don't really need the money since their records STILL sell pretty well.

Saturday Night Special Lyrics

Two feets they come a creepin'
Like a black cat do
And two bodies are layin' naked
Creeper think he got nothin' to lose
So he creeps into this house, yeah
And unlocks the door
And as a man's reaching for his trousers
Shoots him full of .38 holes

(Chorus)
Mr.Saturday night special
Got a barrel that's blue and cold
Ain't no good for nothin'
But put a man six feet in a hole

Big Jim's been drinkin' whiskey
And playing poker on a losin' night
And pretty soon, Big Jim starts a thinkin'
Somebody been cheatin' and lyin'
So Big Jim commences to fightin'
I wouldn't tell you no lie
And Big Jim done pull his pistol
Shot his friend right between the eyes

(Chorus)

Oooh Saturday night special...
For twenty dollars you can buy yourself one too...

Oooh let me tell you all about it...

Well hand guns are made for killin'
They ain't no good for nothin' else
And if you like to drink your whiskey
You might even shoot yourself
So why don't we dump 'em people
To the bottom of the sea
Before some ole fool come around here
Wanna shoot either you or me

(Chorus)

Ooooh it's a Saturday night special
And I'd like to tell you what you can do with it too...

So what ..they are anti gun and now pro gun because ...... we have a black president? Or maybe they fear the great liberals that noone can even identify because they wouldn't know a liberal if it bit em???

Or because they believe all the garbage out there??

"Saturday Night Special" isn't just a song to Lynryrd Skynyrd; they really did believe in their gun-play! So much so that bass player Leon Wilkeson actually took to wearing a holster and a real gun onstage - luckily the gun was only loaded with blanks. During their earlier tours when they were still an opening act, they were opening for Black Sabbath at Nassau Coliseum, Long Island. Black Sabbath fans apparently found this Southern band a little too mellow for their taste, and rushed the stage with taunts. When one fan got too close, Wilkeson drew his pistol and fired a blank over the heads of the crowd. Everybody immediately backed off and the show completed without further incident."

Uh huh. What about " Gimme Back My Bullets "??

Life is so strange when its changin', yes indeed
Well I've seen the hard times and the pressure's been on me
But I keep on workin' like the workin' man do
And I've got my act together, gonna walk all over you

[chorus]
Gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong
Ain't foolin' around 'cause I done had my fun
Ain't gonna see no more damage done
Gimme back my bullets

Sweet talkin' people done ran me out of town
And I drank enough whiskey to float a battleship around
But I'm leavin' this game one step ahead of you
And you will not hear me cry 'cause I do not sing the blues

[chorus]
Gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong
Ain't foolin' around 'cause I done had my fun
Ain't gonna see no more damage done
Gimme back, gimme back my bullets
Oh, put 'em back... where they belong

Been up and down since I turned seventeen
Well I've been on top, and then it seems I lost my dream
But I got it back, I'm feelin' better everyday
Tell all those pencil pushers, better get out of my way

[chorus]
Gimme back my bullets
Put 'em back where they belong
Ain't foolin' around, 'cause I done had my fun
Ain't gonna see no more damage done
Gimme back, gimme back my bullets
Oh put 'em back where they belong
Gimme back my bullets

_____________________________________________________________

Point and Counterpoint.

Just because they wrote a song about people getting shot by " Saturday Night Special(s) " doesn't mean they were anti gun.

The fact that you took " Saturday Night Special " to mean that they were anti gun is absolutely hilarious.

It wasn't about the guns themselves. It was about the people who USED them.

Sooooo pathetic.

Bands and songs were mostly about current situations, history, war, politics anyway.

This is no different from the other spectrum:

Now on their new recording here’s the title track…a song that has T-baggery written all over it…as in written by a corporation acting on behalf of a political party and also….STILL using the radical religious element in America.

“God and Guns”

(The rest of the song is more repetitive cheerleader crap) Look for yourself(b).

I love how you consistently apply the "ignorant" moniker to people that don't agree with obama and his policies.. Arrogance Abounds..
