<-----I haven't worked in over 3 years! Been sitting in this chair on the beach!drinker
my turn to use that chair so move over lol

Ya I have to say .. being off for the year and 1/2, I could REALLY get used to this laugh
fo sure lol but seriously its recession pretty hard for some family's to get their basic needs much less a job to provide it

Unfortunately you are right. Our church as a corporate body is pulling together and helping so many in our community out during the hard times.

And let's face it .. Even with the high unemployment rate and struggles economically, we are in a much better place than the Great Depression, and still at the top 5% richest in the world.

I agree with most of this but that top 5% richest in the world is spread amongst how many people vs. our population. Statistics are always skewed a little.....JMO........smokin

I work...Cant go wrong in healthcare. Always sick and dying peopleohwell

Ya I notice that is an up and coming field too .. so much changes all the time - I should consider that. It just seems so boring to me. asleep

Hear the compensation is decent as well.

BORING???? haha oh no.........my day is never dull. I worked in intensive care tonight- could swear it was a full moon or something........And I usually get the emergency room or pediatrics. Yep......not boring!!!

Yup. I work for a telecommunications company. Unfortunately, the company does a lot of outsourcing, so many people are often worried about their jobs.

i used to make 100k in the gass patches in western colorado, i drive a garbage truck for half of that now. funny part is im profoundly greatful for my job, and even though im not making the money i was before im slowly forming a life outside of ocupation.
hang in there and dont be afraid to try something new, the jobs are coming just have to be patient and pray.

Oh so totally agree with the 'don't be afraid to try something new' aspect. That is HUGE for applicants currently .. to see the potential if one let's go of the title, and considers transferring the job skills to something else.

Anyway I try to live my life by the quote from Brennan Manning:

"To live without risk is to risk not living"

i had been working casually in schools for the past year or so (since having a wonderful 6 years home with my kids).

i've recently been hired full-time in an elementary school just minutes from my home and couldn't be happier. i've the best of both worlds: a little bit of extra cash and all the holidays off with my kids

Enjoy your time in Myrtle Beach. My stepdaughter owns the Kiss Coffeehouse there. I was never much of a Kiss fan but the coffee is goodlaugh

so ya .. for those who are not gainfully employed right now ..

ARE you willing to move outside your comfort zone?

For me .. hey FUN TIMES! I love a challenge. One of the reasons I became bored with my last career was because I could do it in my sleep. 3 times over.

I actually am looking forward to going a different direction .. just don't know what that looks like yet

i'd never, ever get bored either. i love, Love, LOVE staying home and could do it forever, if i could afford to.

when i wasn't working, i used to say 'if i won the lottery, the first thing i'd do is go out and find a job - so that i could quit!'
