(AP) - A Merrillville woman accused of lying to collect nearly $192,000 in benefits for herself and her four children faces welfare fraud charges. Kimberlie Nikedah Mille was being held today at the Lake County Jail on $20,000 bond. She was charged Tuesday in Lake Criminal Court. According to court records, Miller told the state that the father of her four children had abandoned them in 1999. Tax and Bureau of Motor Vehicles records show Miller and the man lived together and earned as much as $40,000 a year. The state said the family's income was too large to have qualified for the funds and benefits they received from the state between 2003 and 2008. If convicted, Miller faces up to eight years in prison and an $8,000 fine. |

You know...that if we forget the past we will be doomed to repeat it?...I realize this is over the heads of the chronically ignorant among us but I can only hope...and keep pointing out that were we've been is where the GOP/T-baggers want to take us back to...not on my watch.

This is the same crowd that believes a 'right' exists for things like 'free rent', 'free gas', 'free food', 'free medical care' ... you know - the 'GIMME!' and "I Wantz MINEZ!' crowd ... All Americans have that problem. They even want to claim the land as theirs which is impossible. False. Land is ownable under a number of theories. (Smith's theory was good, but there are modern theories that are more complete)What you are suggesting is derived from Georgism or Marxism, both of which have been proven wrong by Murray Rothbard and numerous other scholars/economists/historians. Ironically, the theory you espouse (aka Marxian or Georgist theory of value and property) was stolen from Classical Liberals like Locke and bastardized in order to to demonize ownership. |

The land here doesn't belong to any humans. If you think you own a piece of it, you are fooling yourself. The government can take the land from you whenever they deem necessary which means you don't own it. They let you use it until they need it. With a deed of ownership that prevents other humans from taking it. Sometimes that will be many generations. But when the government needs it back, they take it back. But yet most Americans are worried about "what they deserve", "what is doesn't belong to others", "who might be getting more than them", etc.... It is really sick to watch for those few of us who are not that way. So, not only do you not understand economics, you haven't read the Constitution, Articles of Confederation, Declaration of Independence, or the United States Code. No wonder you don't have any valid points!

we own property including land, which has a value, eminent domain isnt just taking land it is paying for property and sometimes being forced to accept payment for property you didnt want to sell
when people build, invest in , and go through legal channels to be bound to a property or land,, they have more legal right to it than people who dont or havent my family owned our home, put out the plans for it, had it built, paid for it being built, tended the land, maintained the property, put their hard earned money into maintaining the structure of the home,,,etc,,, because of that, we had the right to put up a door and make the decision of who we would or would not let in,,,, i think its fair to do the same thing with national borders,,, as to the OP, jobs are not a right, I agree considering the economy is set up for a certain number of people to ALWAYS be without a job,,,and presently it is set up to where there is only 1 job opening for every four or five people without work,, perhaps everyone without jobs should be permitted to freeze and starve because housing and food arent rights either,,,but I would hope we are a more compassionate people than that |
