pot roast

put in meat, slice up large onion, carrots and potatos in big peices, cover with water, season as desired (I just use salt and pepper) put on low for for at least 6 hours, finish off with pot on high till potatoes and carrots are desired tenderness.

Crockpots are great !!!! So easy , pretty much idiot proof .

One of my fav crockpot recipes is mac and cheese .

You can experiment with all kinds of different cheeses and types of pasta .

I like using a mix of my favorite cheeses (cheddar , mozarella , parmesean ) and using penne instead of regular macaroni .

8 oz. box (cooked) macaroni
3 c. grated cheese
2 c. milk
2 eggs
1/4 c. butter
Salt and pepper to taste

Combine cooked macaroni with other ingredients and pour into a greased crockpot. Cook 3 1/2 hours on medium heat.

What i do with my beef stew is:
2lbs of stew beef
sliced carrots
Potatos cut up in bite size
diced onions
beef stew seasoning(I use 4packs but you use how many you want)
4 packs of dry gravy mix

Cut the beef up in bite size cubes with no fat,add the rest of the stuff(not the stew seasoning and gravy). once everything is in your crockpot fill it up with water to the top.Slowly add 1 pk of every 2 hours. Usually takes about 6-8 hours to cook but it all will melt in your mouth.

Barbecue Short Ribs recipe
3 to 3 1/2 pounds beef short ribs
1 tablespoon Dijon-style mustard
1 garlic clove, crushed
2 tablespoons honey
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 cup bottled hickory smoked barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water
Cooked noodles

Place short ribs in crock pot.

In medium bowl, combine mustard, garlic, honey, salt, pepper and barbecue sauce. Pour over ribs. Cover and cook on LOW 6 to 7 hours or until tender. Refrigerate several hours or overnight.

Skim any fat from top. Remove ribs; heat in microwave or conventional oven. Dissolve cornstarch in cold water. Add to sauce from ribs. Cook and stir in microwave or on stovetop until hot and slightly thickened. Pour hot sauce over warm ribs.

Serve over cooked noodles.

I'm not good with a Crock Pot. I love cooking, but I think more practice with a crock pot to be useful with it. I'm more a gourmet myself.

drinker Crock pots are wonderful!!

You can throw anything in them in the morning & when you come draging in from a long day the house smells yummy dinner is ready!

It's better than a WIFE!!! drinker

Any kind of Roast, get a big 7 bone roast or Chuck roast, a package of onion soup mix, what ever veggies you want.
add water to just leave top uncovered, So soup mix stays on top. or a jar of Horseradish!!!

after dinner stick the pot in frig. in the mornin all the grease will be hard on top you just lift off & you can make gravy.
Pork roast just salt some...

Corn beef & cabbage, w/ potatoes & carrots...

Any of those you buy a nice big roast then you have meat for sandwiches or the left overs you can thicken & make burritos.

Ham & beans, pinto beans & a ham hock & a onion..

Chicken & Dumplins & veggies

A few old favorites...

1. Buy a whole turkey breast(bone in) put it in the crockpot, add about 1 cup of water and some bell's seasoning (or what you like), cover and let cook all day. At the end of the day it's almost covered in it's own juice and it's the tenderest turkey you've ever had!!

2. Bone in pork roast.. cover with apple juice, add a little cinnamon. Cook all day. Yummmmmm

For those that live in cold states in the winter... add drained canned veggies, alraedy browned hamburger and some tomato sauce and chunks of potato and at end of day you have a nice hot pot of veggie soup waiting for you after shoveling all that snow!!

I've found corned beef cooked in a crock pot is scrumptious! Throw it in with water and let her go while you are away at work.
