Nothing personal to the elderly okbigsmile but I think after a certain age there should be driving test once a year. I have seen to many people that should not be driving. Like this lady that couldn't see over her steering, that decided out of the blue to slam on her breaks and stop in the middle of the freeway in the fast lane. If the truck that squeeze in between me and that driver didn't know how to drive. He would of slammed into her and would of slammed me into the side of the mountain. I have seen to many elderly stop for no reason and nothing wrong with their cars. Like the ones that stop on a freeway on ramp waiting for cars to past by?

The irony is most of the accidents here are caused by very young people and not the elderly. So perhaps both the very young and the elerly should be tested yearly. It was a 19 year old guy that drove into the back of my vehicle as I was stopped at a light and crippled me for 4 years.

yups...I really think it should be a ticketed violation and people should be required to get a hands free for their phones - if we keep it legal to be on them at all while operating a ton of cold blue steel at high speeds

sorry to the cell addicts out there but my life, my investment in my car, and the lives & investments of my loved ones are more important than your babbling on the phone

usually medical conditions, problems with mobility, vision, an hearing cause these issues. And altho they are understandable, I agree the lives of the rest of us are at stake

I think as far as highway ramps - first - it is important to remember that people already on the highway do have the right of way. I have seen too many impetuous drivers nearly cause collisions because there was no where for them to merge and they tried to anyway - I try to move over to the left, but it is not always possible.

this is also usually the cell phone and testing crew

and you r correct - auto insurance companies keep statistics on accidents that they set premiums with, and the younger drivers are statiscally the poorer drivers- it's why their rates are higher

Well ... maybe you should check into it....
Where I live .... elderly do have to prove their abilities regularly to keep their licences.

as for stupid .... well ... there is no defense against stupid ... and young/new drivers seem to have the biggest amount of stupid.

Johnn's winter driving tips:

1) if you "fishtail" always steer the car in the direction you need to go

2) Never apply the brakes or the gas in a curve

3) Carry a big blanket, boots, candles, granola bars, big bag of coarse salt, flairs and keep a full tank of gas(just in case)and Don't worry about water, you can always melt a lil snow

4) Give yourself 5-10 car lengths of space ahead of you. Do not attempt to pass anyone.

5) always let someone know where you're going and when you expect to get there and what route you're taking.

4) Give yourself 5-10 car lengths of space ahead of you
And then some Dumb...Driver will cut in front of you. Right in front!
