Not long ago i dated a guy 10 years younger. People just assumed i was younger and he was older. But i have to confess that the age gap was one of the reasons it didnt work out. Im gonna try to stick to guys my age or older in the future.

Was it the age gap? Or was it the maturity level of the guy? I know you could say that both do go hand in hand (and in some cases they do), but some young dude's do have there heads on straight. And, to be fair, some older dudes don't have there act together (Oh crap! I could be one of these dudes. Lol). Just curious.

10 years isn't too bad. My typical gap is 5 years, but if the right person came along I'd consider a 10 year gap.

Granted that'd make my choices 16 to 36... Maybe I should stick with my 5 year gap. No offense ladies.

Normally I'm the guy that says it going to be okay, and you should do what feels right.

On the other hand, if my 19 year old daughter was dating a 29 year old, I might have things to say.

I think it TOTALLY depends upon the 19 year old,

when they are still in their 'teens' they develop at different rates. I know 19 year olds who still are emotionally and intellectually equivalent to a 15 or 16 year old

I also know a 16 year old who is as mature and logical as any twenty year old I know

Id say if its a high schoolish 19 year old(the kind who is not self supportive and knows very little beyond what she wants at this moment), I would personally be suspect of a nearly thirty year old man 'dating' her

If its a mature 19 year old (the kind that is self supportive, well grounded and logical about the world around her, has some idea of where she wants to go in life, has an identity that doesnt need to be validated,,,),,than I wouldnt personally think twice

it isnt the biological age its the emotional/intellectual compatibility

if yall are on the same emotional and intellectual level at your ages,, more power to ya

Age should not matter at all as long as it's legal! My step_father was 27 years older than my mother and it never was never a problem. His biggest dilemma was choosing a wine that went with peanut butter and jelly! j/k

I am happy for both of you. It can be hard to tell one freak from another in public these days.

I don't give a **** what people think it's more a question of weather I can expect to be mobbed about it. She is grounded somewhat she he has a job, residence and her own bills to pay. She wants to be a dentist... I don't think I could hit it off with girl who has a 16 year old mentality. But she does look like she could be as young as 17 even.

well , there is your answer

if you dont mind, why does it matter?

I havent heard of many instances of people being assaulted for their age difference, heck most folks are kind of scared of younger folks nowadays(so the elders wont be approaching or commenting) and younger folks think its cool to just DATE regardless of the age(so the younger folks will most likely admire you)

I doubt you will get much flack, physically speaking, although those close to you may kid or tease you

there will always be idiots out there who ask nosy questions and make comments that r none of their business. ignore them. whether it was your age difference , it would be something to spark the wagged tongues....If ur sure beyond the shadow if a doubt that she is of legal age - do what u want

I have a 25 yr old son who is more mature than his 55 yo father - at 16 he was more mature and dependable than my 28 yo EX boyfriend

Timing can/does play a factor in relationships. Then again, is the timing always right? Or perfect? Maybe we are all perfectionists? Maybe time is an evil thing? Maybe time is of the devil? I don't know, but damn it....I'm out of time. laugh

That only depends on

a)If you go out in public
b)If other opinions really matter.

Mine's 16 years younger, and my mother's husband is about the same. Later in life it'll probably matter some, which reminds me of a true to life situation for my mom. She once called me and said my step-father's pacemaker was acting up... So I suggested since it's the only that works, she should sit on his chest. pitchfork
