If done it with no expectations whatsoever. If she's with friends I'll buy a round for them all just so she doesn't feel too uncomfortable. It is a way of breaking the ice for some people but obviously not for everyone. At least I know who to buy a drink for in here!  next round is on patsfan64!!

Last summer a girl friend were meeting some friends at a sports bar for dinner and drinks.. We went early so we could get a big table and after being seated we ordered drinks.. I drink tequila so I ordered a margarita and it was VERY strong. Had another one after eating and I told my friends not to let me have anymore as I would be dancing on the table and they were laughing at me...
 As I was telling my friends this the waitress showed up with drinks(for my friend and I) from a guy sitting at the bar.. My friend told her why we were laughing so hard, she told the guy and he sent another drink and told me to go for it!! I don't mind accepting a drink from a guy but only if it is served by the waitress or bartender.. |

What's your thoughts on a man buying a woman a drink? Is there a hidden message and agenda? I feel like I missed some code or something. I went out with a few friends tonight and encouraged a buddy to go over and offer to buy this 'lady' a drink. He had been admiring her and I was merely trying to help get him back in the game. She exploded, ranted and raved. I was mortified. Of course, he was pretty mortified too. Is buying someone, or accepting a drink taboo? Sounds like this girl was bit over the top. I don't think buying or accepting a drink is taboo. I have bought men drinks myself. It was just my way of saying hi. |

Yeah, I pretty much didn't hear the end of it especially after my compelling reasoning for doing it.... We don't have waiters here in bars so as long as I'm at the bar and can see everything it's all good in the hood. It's very easy for a woman to get spiked so we need to have our wits about us. I don't mean to offend anyone but you do have some weirdo's about the town.
