There is historical reference on both sides of the family......My Grandmother goes back to Korean aristocracy....There is an English coat of arms on my grandfather's side and were considered artistic roots.....On my father's side my aunt has a listing of roots to England Ireland and American Indians, but i do know my great-grandfather was a coal miner from Charleston, WV that died of black lung.

I sure am. Only if its free tho. My uncle had it done by some professional years ago and we all got a copy. My dad has some story about the daughter of a count who wanted to marry the farmhand. That wouldnt be allowed acourse so she ran off with him to the new world. No documents of course. meh.

I will check the freepage link. Thanks.

Ancestry.com has some free information, but the information that is posted there is not always correct. Anyone can add information to family trees on this site and it is not always checked for accuracy. My mother is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and they will not accept ancestral information obtained from most of the "free web sites". If you simply google an ancestors name and any other information you know is correct (ie. date of birth, place of birth, spouse, marriage date, children, parents, etc.) you can find a lot of information from historical records. It takes some time, but if you go through more than the first few pages of "hits", which will usually be the "free pages" you will begin to see historical records that you may even be able to download for free.

Most of the sites like Ancestry, Rootsweb etc. simply pull info from public domain sources and then try to charge you to unlock the content. A little patience can save you money and get you more accurate information. Good luck in your search.

On my fathers side we went back to my dad's dad being born in Russia but being of German descent so they were migrants from the bad Germany. But his birth records were burned in a church fire so that is where they stopped.

My dad's mom was of German descent also her family came over here from Germany around the same time that his fathers family crossed over. They were both beet farmers in Kansas

They were not "legal" immigrants. They came and worked and became Americans.

On my mothers side we can't track her dad without paying some money out but her mothers family was Irish and came over from Ireland the generation before her mother was born. Her mom was born in Kansas also if my memory serves me correctly. They were also farmers.

We thought there was American Indian in the mix but recently found out that was misinformation passed down from my mom's dad.

So just German/Irish American here.

My grandmother, before she died, had
traced 5 lines back to Adam & Eve.
Don't ask me how that is done.
The Mormons do it.
Takes lifetimes.

Both great grandparents came on the boats. One from Hungary and other from Germany. That's as far as I got. I tried to find the ship that my German side came on but they changed their names from what I was told.

Both great grandparents came on the boats. Daddy's mommy on the mayflower, mommy's daddy on the titanic. Mommy's mommy was a showboat dancer and courtisan (transplanted from the courts of Louis XV, the Sun King, to the mississippi delta; transferable skills), and daddy's daddy came on a galleon, they staged a mutiny in the friday night ameteur theatre where the galley slaves entertained themselves, and soon there was no man left on board, except for Daddy's Dad, who was over bored with nobody else on board to play chest and Mononucleosis with. (An older version of Monopoly.)

Theoretically, however, my family tree has roots in Adam and Eve, and before that, God. My atheists cousins have a 100000-year-old tree in their family.

..HOW TO TRACE FIVE LINES
BACK TO ADAM AND EVE BY AN INDIVIDUAL..

With my personal inability to trace,
I can only assume I inherited the
blond gene from Adam.

As far as I know, Scots, English, Russians and Scandinavians were in my background. There was something about my father's side being mixed with Danish and French, plus I have most of my great Aunties living in Australia I think born there. In fact they haven't left, their leaky roof is proof of that.

As far as the Russian side, there's some Italian breds and Turks in the mix. My Grandfather, whom I never met fought in the first world war living in Baku, Azerbaijan (former Russia). Not quite Borat, but you can think of us as easy targets to make fun of. Grandmother, I only remember she always talked about love and kindness, she was the most different than all the other Russians. The least craziest. On the downside...basically a lot of slavics who smell like herring and complain about who's jewelery store is more successful.
