Topic: how far back can you trace your ancestral roots?

I can go back to a Revolutionary War soldier who was born in about 1760. The family story is that he came from France, but his name was English and nobody has been able to trace him. His wife's side goes back a couple of generations earlier, but not with complete certainty.

Ask Soufiehere. She is good at tracing. Now. Five minutes ago she had no clue how to do that.

It's a funny thing nobody could trace him. They how did YOU come to know so much about him? Incl. the fact he is a forefather of yours. It's not easy to know an untraceable person.

..HOW TO TRACE FIVE LINES
BACK TO ADAM AND EVE BY AN INDIVIDUAL..

With my personal inability to trace,
I can only assume I inherited the
blond gene from Adam.

count your blessings, lady...
I inherited the personality traits
of the Platypus ancestor in my
lineage and the obesity gene
From some stupid samurai who came
over to Hungary with Ghinghis Khan.

I am not going to argue over this,
but wasn't it Gabriel the blonde one?

You kept up with that side of the family
a bit closer, so I let you be the judge.

Unless you (or I) inherited the colour
blindness from Uncle Beelzeboob.

My grandmother, before she died, had
traced 5 lines back to Adam & Eve.
Don't ask me how that is done.
The Mormons do it.
Takes lifetimes.

Sometimes you really puzzle me, woman.
You are such a brilliant creature, and
yet sometimes you can't get over the
simplest of problems.

HOW TO TRACE FIVE LINES
BACK TO ADAM AND EVE BY AN INDIVIDUAL

1. Take a white sheet, some
dark ink pen that writes
heavy and wide, and a transparency
or opaque paper.

2. Put down near one edge of the
paper on the paper, a gob, then
mark it thus: "Me". Then on the
opposite edge of the paper,
on the paper, mark two dots, "Adam and Eve".

3. Draw five lines betwee "ME" (or you) and "adam and eve.

4. Lay the opaque paper over your creation.

5. Trace the five lines from "me" (you) to "Adam and Eve".

Once you finish, there are no arguments, your five lines are traced.

Actually we ALL came from Adam and Eve.

Remember now....Back then people lived up to over 900 years of age....

lots of time for Adam and Eve to have lots and lots of other

children...

then the children grew up and had

children ...then the children's children grew up and

had children........then the childrens' children's children grew

up and had children......and as families grew, the people

scattered out to find their own territory...etc. etc .etc....

9oo years is quiet a long time to create quiet a community of

people....flowerforyou

..............................................................

A. Before the flood.

1. People typically lived to over 900 years old.

Genesis 5:5, 8, 11, 14, 17, 20, 23, 27, 31

2. They also bore children in old age.

Genesis 5:3 Adam, at 130 years; Genesis 5:6 Seth, at 105 years;

Genesis 5:9 Enos, at 90 years; Genesis 5:12 Cainan, at 70 years;

Genesis 5:15 Mahalaleel, at 65 years; Genesis 5:18 Jared, at 162

years; Genesis 5:21 Enoch, at 65 years

Genesis 5:25 Methuselah, at 187 years; Genesis 5:28, 29 Lamech, at

182 years; Genesis 5:32 Noah, at 500

B. After the flood.

1. People did not live as long (200-400 years), but still much

longer than today. Genesis 11:10-32.

Abraham lived 175 years (Genesis 25:7, 8). Isaac lived to be 180

(Genesis 35:28). Jacob lived to 130 years of age (Genesis 47:8, 9).

Moses was 120 (Deuteronomy 34:7). Joshua lived to be 110. Joshua

24:29

2. Today people usually live 70 to 80 years.

Psalms 90:10

"The days of our years are 70 years..."

dont get me wrong, just love looking at things with new eyes. theres no metion of offspring until cain was bannished, then seth came along. im a God fearing man, brought up in the church; but the question still lies did adam and eve have unmentioned offspring, or did God create others that are not mentioned. regaurdless, we are all of the same decent because noah and his family were the only humans left after the great flood:or were more people created by God again without mention. i think we are all brothers and sisters regaurdless of who our ancestors are. we have minds, soulsand are all brought into this world perfect. the only real differeces we have are the ones we as people allow ourselves to have

A few romantic stories passed down the generations, half of which had some truth in them. Because I couldn't get back beyond him, all the genealogy I did was on his descendants.

Not so funny that nobody could trace him. It happens to the best of us mongrels.

My family tree is inscrutable, or boring. On my mom's side every ancestor and lateral relative had at least seven surviving children, some up to 15. I never even met my grandparents, except that old woman Nanoka, dad's mom.

Apparently there was a foremother who broke her hip in 1847 in a horse riding accident, and was bedridden from then on, in constant, excrutiating pain, and SHE STILL HAD NINE KIDS AFTER THAT. She and her hubby had 21 children, of which a whopping 19 made it to sexual maturity and having children on their own.

In those days marriage wows were really seriously taken, coz the marriage itself was supposed to be a gift of, and blessed or sanctified by, god. Literally. So the "cherish and to hold in sickness and in health" stuck. A man would risk eternal damnation in those days by cheating on his wife, and he had to put it somewhere, huh.

A similar thing, "Sumatra Man" has been puzzling me too. Apparently all humans originated in or near Olduvai, about 100,000 years ago, and there is a constantly updated and rather well documented string of mutations form 1,000,000 years earlier to that point of humaniods.

A Dutch biologist, however, got a job on a merchant marine ship, to get to Sumatra, and he did, and he did some diggin' and he dug this portion of a jaw bone up which had been in the ground for eons, and it fits into the evolutionary path of humanoids in some period.

So then there was a lot of argument how that ape-monkey-man got there from Africa, or what. It turns out that it's not impossible that that ape-monkey-man developed in the far east on its own. Apparently mutations are not all that very random. Which makes sense, too.

Some crafty humans in Africa, a trait of anthropologists, are trying to train monkeys and apes to detect, locate, and dig up ancient or pre-ancient (50,000-2,000,000,000 years old) archeological and bilogical relics from the ground. There are several stumbing blocks right now that thwart scientists in this effort. Although some monkey and apes species can know where these digs should go down, they can't communicate it to us, and we can't make them motivated to dig; and when we do, they categorically refuse to take digital photos of the digging process, which photos are essential to see how the bones are lain, even in three dimensions, in the gournd. Sometimes the sediment layer or layering gives ample and much needed evidence in dating finds, and without photographing the remains while still only semi-exposed in the dig it is not easily done.
