Ahhh, I'll try not to make that mistake from now on. Still mad at a particular nerd, guess I took it out on him with that term. If only he coulda been nicer. I was just quoting the movie fanboys, you can call trekkies whatever you want. I'll help you with it this weekend, with any luck we'll get you back up and running. Ha, never seen it. I have a million names for trekkies but they bring it on themselves. Shatner and Nimoy are very blessed. Cool, I'd have to put more life in her and boot it up in normal mode. Either way it'll get fixed. I checked it today normally and some of the programs were loading but it took about minute for Word and paint to load up. Video is still down, only thing that still opens is Mozilla.

Hey, there's a quick update on this...
I was in the middle of writing my novel (got to 800 words only, had to write out the rest by hand) last night and I swear the entire thing froze for about 20 minutes. MID-damn sentence too. Thank god Word '07 is crafty and saves the remainder when I pop it back up. Now its starting to freeze DURING my actions. Oy... I had to reboot it and it did it again, in the middle of a big azz paragraph AND boom. Sheesh, I'm sorry this isn't your fault Spider. I feel really bad admitting it since you were so patient with me that day. Since the communication is currently cut off with dude who "fixed" it (I called him last night and he didn't pick up), I might have to just do a *gulp* system restore. F10 it all the way. Transfer all my files and docs onto my vista and work on cleaning it up, I think its waaaay more buggier than I thought. Now I'm convinced it has to do with what was installed, since I really don't know what the hell what really was installed. Bunch of things my computer doesn't recognize. |

I suggest switching to Open Office. It's free, has all the features of MS stuff, and works better (you can even save in MS suite formats). |

Just a hunch here but try disabling Windows automatic updates and see if that makes a difference. I find that on slow machines automatic updates can slow down and even lock them up. Worth a try.

Tried it. It didn't work. Back to basics. I'll transfer the bulk of my stuff tonight and do a recovery on my lunch break tomorrow.

OK, whew, that was close. I disabled automatic, rebooted, and disabled a few more things just now that I don't need. So far I have Word AND mozilla AND yahoo open. Normally don't have that much open. Nothing is freezing. Its been like this for an hour now. We'll see. I wonder why Word was the baddie here. For right now its working. I managed to write something without the curser moving behind the words when it normally freezes and comes back. Thank god. I haven't removed any files yet, things are still the same. I'm surprised. Just when I was about to transfer files, I gave it a go again. Weird.
