why do you think some fathers distance themselves from their pregnant partner or the child after it's born?

because thats when the hard work starts and they lack strength and maturity.
 My ex left when the youngest was a year old and showed back up when she turned 15 to give her a Mountain Dew and wish her a happy 12th....she handed it back to him and walked away....none of the five speak to him.....and btw...After 25 years, I finally received 2 support checks for the very first time...each was for $3.00....and yes, the decimals are in the correct location

Any little boy with a hard on can be a father. It takes a man to be a daddy.

They aren't in love with the babymama.

Sometimes, I think it’s that the fantasy of having a child doesn’t always match up with the reality of having a child – a little too much grown up responsibility that immature guys can’t/aren't equipped to deal with.

I just think some people were not meant to be parents. I am not one to judge their decision but maybe the kid is better off without the dad. JMO

No no no you're a little off this time. There were studies done and the biggest forewarning of a kid going to jail, etc., was lack of a father figure involvement. I think they were 3x more likely to have societal, behavioral and criminal activities. I'd have to look it back up and be for sure, but 3x sounds right, and I don't feel like looking it up tonight!!

For all that info the ladies owe me a smooch! blushing

The study didn't specify but I feel sure it meant a good father figure, it might not have, you can never tell if they don't specify.

Ahhh I forgot about me. Mine was verbally, physically and mentally abusive. That's what made me swear when I was a kid I'd never treat anyone like that, and I made it out. I am distanced from my father (he died) and mother (she's 82) cuz I remember my youth and resent it.

It taught me how not to be a man, the Boy Scouts and Army taught me and trained me to be a man. So I'm alright to me. Comfortable in my skin.

Some people are incapable of being a parent, even though their body is able to produce children, they lack the mentality, maturity, and emotional capacity to be a responsible adult, and a parent. There's all kinds of reasons why one would be this way.

And boys feel like sex is a freebie and they don't want to take responsibility for the life they created.

Boys think if they get a girl pg, she can just abort. I heard that is very psychologically draining on a to-be mom to abort her baby! I know I would not.
