If you have a bad Experience why take the chance of repeating that same experience.

I will Not get married again...

Me either! I believe I can have a committed relationship without marriage. I don't need a ceremony to prove or have proven to me that I am in love

I have done it and been heavily burned.
But, if I do not offer ALL of me, then
I offer nothing at all.
I will not make someone pay for another's
faults.
Nor will I decide THEIR life by making
broad statements about things that affect them.
A free and open heart, is just that.

The same could be said about a lot of things. Why date someone again if you've had a bad experience in the past? Why drive again if you've had a bad experience in the past? Why meet new people if you've had bad experiences in the past? Why walk across the road if you've had bad experiences in the past. I could go on...

People say never to alot of things but with time passed they end up doing the things they said they would never do.. Everyone is different and relationship is different; can you go without marriage yes but I would say it's going to be hard to find someone that shares your newfound value.. And there will be alot to come along and think they can change your mind

I think age is a factor too. If you are over 50 like I am, your perspective may be different than someone who is 20-40 and interested in building a life together and possibly having children. For me a major factor is assets. If I die, I want my sons to inherit what I have worked for and I would want the man I am with to leave his assets to his family. I also feel that it makes for less conflict with grown children who may think you are marrying for money. This is just the way I feel and I do make it clear to men I date from the beginning that I do not want to get married and the reason why. It is their choice if they want to see me.

I suppose people will get married a second time because they think next time it will work. People do the same with relationships even when they have bad experiences. I won't have a relationship for the same reason you folks won't marry again. I don't want to go through another bad experience.

The thing is ...any two people of 50+years should have sufficient experience, trust, knowledge and understanding to make a relationship a truly wonderful experience.

Meeting the right person isn't easy but possible.

I like your thinking Jayneflowerforyou

I've been married 3 times.

When I was 18 - lasted 5 years. We were both far too young.

Then when I was 29 - lasted 10 years. Unfortunately he was a wife beater.

Then when I was 47 - widowed this time.

Would I marry again? I doubt it.

I agree here. You put up some serious obstacles in your life that now you can't seem to get past. Live your life to the fullest.

Masochism?

I am ready Willing and Able to Commit to a full blown relationship but I will not get married..

I think it might be because of that old adage, "If at first you don't succeed try, try, try, again." But on the third try some may have come to the realization of, "If at first you don't succeed quit. There is no need to to make a fool of yourself."

Only difference is a piece of paper that will cost you money once its over. You can still get the life sucked out of you in a relationship. You lose all your freedom.

Exactly because everyone is just so identical. Just like when dating, or even just having sex, if it's not good, or doesn't work out the first, why ever try again? whoa

Success always comes the first time you try anything right?

I don't particularly want to get married again, but I'd be open to it I guess. It would depend on the relationship. I'd be down for a Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn type relationship. They seem to make it work without marriage.
