What do you really do when things seem not to be working no matter how much effort you make. I've prayed but things just seem stagnant. I'm confused seriously

Helping another person less fortunate than me helps me to get out of the funk.

The Third Step Prayer

"....turn your will and your life"

"God, I offer myself to Thee--to build with me and to do with me as Thou wilt. Relieve me of the bondage of self, that I may better do Thy will. Take away my difficulties, that victory over them may bear witness to those I would help of Thy Power, Thy Love, and Thy Way of life.

May I do Thy will always!"

This prayer can be found on page 63 of the "Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous". The 3rd Step in AA is : "Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him."

A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
James 1:8

It really works.

You get so busy helping others you don't have time to get depressed. Jesus got so good at it that he was thronged.

Mark 5:24

And Jesus went with him; and much people followed him, and thronged him.

Napodan, this man is making sense.

Give your situation to the Lord, meanwhile... find someone to bless with your time.

Totage, do you have a prayer life?

In these hectic times prayer can sometimes be neglected.
Instead we allow fear and dread to overtake us.

As things start to get hectic...take a prayer break, whenever, wherever.

I realize prayer is not welcomed in some social circles...but you can always pray silently and briefly anywhere.

Prayer doesn't help. At this point, I've given up on trying to figure anything out. I really don't even care anymore.

This is why the scriptures and Jesus in particular teaches so much about patients. Don't loose faith in things no happening when you want them. Word of advise would be don't "expect" them to be answered in a specific time frame. All prayers are answered in God's time, when he chooses for them to be.

Don't try to figure life. No one can.

Just put your lips together and...pray!

Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.
Ephesians 6:18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

And If you want to have a really good day.
1 Thessalonians 5:17 Pray without ceasing.

We are lucky in this modern era, God has gifted us with more information than perhaps people have had before.

When the girls and I felt really flat and down, we knew that prayer was the answer, but we also had the ability to get out into God's wonderful creation to do this prayer. We would walk through all sorts of incredible scenery, sometimes out in the darkest of nights that matched someone's unhappiness with the ocean roaring and crashing in front of us, sometimes drowning out our prayers. Always moving. God gave us limbs for a reason, use prayer and movement at the same time. Boost those endorphins.

I find when you have inner peace, your persceptive in life changes and things fall into place. Letting go does makes life better. Sometimes we do not realize we have things pent up inside that need to be let go, mentally and physically. Meditation removes confusion and gives your mind clarity to see things clearly. Your body becomes more relaxed too. You as a person is connected body, mind and soul. Meditation brings all three parts into unison, to bring you into a more healthier state in life, things do work better for you in life when there is balance.

Try meditation. There is a CD by Emmett Miller, M.D. & Steven Halpern entitled "Letting Go Of Stress: Four Effective Techniques for Relaxation and Stress Reduction" which I listen to. I came across their Inner Peace Music - Nature Series: Volume 1, a meditation CD. Meditation is not hard to do. I have learnt several types now in the last 15 years. Dr. Miller leads you into meditation easily, and takes you with his voice right into it.

Quoting from back of his CD:
"Letting Go Of Stress provides you with four easy yet powerful methods to effortlessly and effectively manage the stresses in your life, helping you access your own healing ability.

As you listen, you'll notice postive changes (true from my experience) almost immediately. You'll enjoy using these programs over and over, and appreciate how this CD helps you calm your mind, relax your body, and let go of unwanted stress. (Do 20 minutes daily in the evening or morning for a week and you will want to make it part of your life routine - it really makes a mental difference and you begin to change and things around you change, it is good)

Dr. Emmet Miller's warm and deeply resonant voice guides you through physical and mental relaxation, autogenic exercies and guide imagery that decrease tension and leave you feeling renewed and refreshed.

Further enhancing the overall effect is the exquistely relaxing music composed and performed by Steven Halpern on grand piano and other keyboards."

Dr. Miller has a series of meditation CDs you may want to look into. I believe he has made a CD to help those with depression.

"Most of the mountains we have in life
are ones we build ourselves."
(A non-biblical saying)

"For the mountains shall depart,

and the hills be removed;

but my kindness shall not depart from thee,

neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed,

saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee."

Isaiah 54:10

there is a usual saying which states: "show me a man who has no shoes, and i will show u a man who has no leg"; this simply implies dat in wateva situation we find ourself, we shuld always give thanks! d word of God says, "come unto me all ye dat are burdened and heavy laden, and i will give u rest" weneva u feel depressed, just turn to God, dnt sit in the dark sulking, rather engage urself wt doing gud and working for the Lord and u will ave reasons to be grateful to God... all d best
