I want to say I am going to talk about Congress, but I may have the wrong office as I can not remember which one for sure. Fanta help me out please as I am sure you know for sure, lol...

You get elected for two years as a cognressman. You serve those two years. you either choose to step down, or do not get reelected.
you CONTINUE getting paid as if you were still an active member for the rest of your life!!! AND if there is a pay raise? you get the raise as well!

Now, I am sorry but that is nothing but complete bullchit. Our government officials need to stop getting paid such ridiculous amounts, and either go back to doing it voluntarily as it USED to be , or at least have a REASONABLE pay rate.

What do you all think? And yes the scenario I described is the truth, although like I said I may have the wrong office.

you may have the wrong office but they do get paid. i don't think that few years is deserving of a continual check.
i'm retire air force and all we get is a cost of living raise each year. i'm not complaining i knew that going in.
as for the years to get that check they need to serve more.
hell the military has reduced the percentage you get at 20 or moved the age you you can receive it at or something. i lost exact track after i punched out in '95.

with the military, Don, they have reduced BOTH the amount you receive and what you receive as well a when you receive it. Last I heard Congress was in the process of removing ALL medical benefits from retirement except for life threatening emergency. And this is for people that serve 20 years and more. Congress is trying to get it to where you ONLy receive a stipend from your base pay, and they keep whittling that away as well.

yea, i knew they were doing something. as for the medical i've been paying for that since i retired. granted at the present its a lot cheaper then what i'd pay through a company or private plan but still pay.

After what happened at Walter Reed and all that Outrage I do not look for Benefits to be cut like that the public outrage would be amazing.

they were already cut random, and the publiuc has a very nasty history of looking the other way when veterans rights and benefits are in discussion.

walter reed didn't just happen under the commander that got fired. he just was sacrificed for it. hell the budgets only allow for so much.
no that that's right, just a fact. cut back on doctors or the maintenance of a stand alone facility so to speak.

The President and House all get the same too. Pay for the rest of their lives. Take a look at the Clintons for example. They are both on the Taxpayers money for forever and they live FAR BETTER than I do. Here is my thoughts on it. After their service... they go get a real job. Money is cut off. As for the President... ok they have more people threatening etc them so we will still pay them for 2 years after their service. This gives them time to get out of the position, and out of the spotlight for abit before getting a real job. We will still let them have secret service protect them during that two years but then its over. Right now we're paying Hillary AND Bill. We're paying for them to have Secret Servicemen AND they said their house wasnt big enough for the SS men so we had to build them another house on the property for them to stay in. WHATS WITH THAT?! I live in 800 Square Feet. Another of the many many many reasons I will never vote for Hillary (and this is just my opinion so I'm not trying to offend anyone).

Oh and one last thing... one of our benefits (Social Security) will not only be cut it will be eliminated if they do decide (as Hillary so wants to do) to give it to all the illegals. After all we should care about them as people (but not care about the ones in our own country)
