i'm just trying to get people's opinion on this cause i want too ask a girl i know out but i'm joining the military and depending on my asvabs score i could get a contract up to 8 years and i don't wanna ask her out cause if i ask her out and she says yes and i leave to bct etc, she might not wait for me.

so do you think i should ask this girl out or stay friends with her?

I think you should ask her out,BUT do you really want to start a relationship with this girl at this point and time? If you feel that you are, then I say go for it. The thing is, if you pass all your tests, and do join the military, are you really in a position to try to start a relationship right now? Do you think this girl will be able to handle what is coming up for you, and will she be willing to stand by you and wait for you? There's a lot of things to figure out if you really want to start a relationship with all you have coming up.

look if u have true feelings for her and want to be in a relationship with her then go tell her as she might feel the same way about you too . if she foes have frrlings for you and wants to wait for you then fine otherwise you can both go separate ways in life

I can tell from the few posts I've read from you that she's not likely to be interested in dating you.

Speaking as an honorably-discharged military veteran, my advice is this:

It would be foolish to expect the girl to wait for you. You don't even know where you will be after basic training.

Long distance is always more difficult.
Normally on things like this I wouldn't give an opinion,
However, My son in law is in the australian Army and although he is posted here for the next 4 years, he still heads out bush for up to 6 months at a time. My daughter new this before they started their relationship, but it is still hard on her when he is gone and it's the same for him. It takes a huge amount of commitment and understanding for them to keep their relationship going.

This makes any relationship difficult, even more so if you are somewhere that you have no contact for weeks on end.

If I was giving advice to one of my boys, I would say, stay good friends with her, but concentrate on your career for now, you cannot really juggle both at the start.

Good luck either way.

It could be riskier, being far away, but if you truly want her then it's better than never trying.

Howdy,
I know a few old soldiers who counted on letters from home . Why not set a date , discuss it , and then see what happens.I think this world teaches us to be toooo cautious sometimes. The way i see it is, if ya never try , you'll never know.
At a minimum i bet ya could pick up a pen pal. on the other hand , it could be a long wait between rotations home.
Your risking the ultimate by enlisdting ..
Why not take a gamble on a pretty gal ?

Take care of yaself young man ..
Dont loose yaself over there

Go for it!! It's a night out, you're not asking her down the aisle. If you don't try, well then you won't know. It may only last a week or month but sure who knows. Take a chance
