ahhhhhhh de sweeeet 'erb mon...she was put her by the Great Mother for alll de women dey be PMSing and all dose mothers wit de babies teethin...

bless be !!! Praise Jahflowerforyou flowerforyou flowerforyou

everything has it's place and balance and purpose, although smoking the substance is equally as dangerous as any disease it is being smoked for... so that cancells that out. (1 joint =16 cigs in tar content)

but hey choose your poison , find your balance, the human seems to use doors of compensation to walk in and out through, so weigh carefully the choices and be honest with yourself.

i do smoke, the sweet herb, especially when i have just come home from a tour.... i knock myself out with some strong white widow....and i don't nightmare.....

i also just stop. for a year or 6 mo if i am just busy with amsterdam life.

i'd have to say ..the contrasts i face and the slap in my face of the galling and stark injustice of it all slice deeply into me.... even after all this time.

i have seen tooo much.. and the sweet herb is a comfort and an ally i choose for the time being. I don't drink at all or smoke ciggaretts.

i also ride my bike and do not own a car so the exercise i get from riding everywhere i go adds to a balance and also hinders my appetite to smoke a joint...so as i ease back into the lifestyle my hunger for the herb is lessened.

i have many contradictions in my life , i love them and it works for me!!

so far everyone is well adjusted , here in amsterdam it is such a common and usual pastime..it does not have the social stigma attached to it of being shocking.

my kids have all grown up seeing me occassionally smoke and sometimes often.
i have made them all aware of what it all is about, for me personally
and i do my best to live by the example that moderation and looking at myself and my motives and even talking about my vulnerabilities, enables me to make healthier choices ...

it's a process...flowerforyou

a report that i read about a possible link to schizophrenia said that it was more about a link between young people using and developing schizophrenia. the part of the brain that is most affected by pot use is the arcuate nucleus which handles communication from the front of the brain to the deeper regions. they say that an underdeveloped arcuate nucleus is a similarity between underage pot users and schizophrenics.

the report also went on to say that if you wanted to smoke pot it was best to wait til you were 25 years of age because your brain is likely fully developed at that age.

the first one was from 2006

the second part about being 25 was from a different article but it also discussed the arcuate nucleus. i forgot to mention that they were seperate, sorry.

the theory has been around for a long time. basically all they are saying here is that they both affect the same area of the brain. i don't think that we will ever know the answer 100%.

Ive smoked it in the past and prolly will in the future....like about once in a year or something like that. It does wreak havoc on my lungs far worse than cigarettes though....it will put me into such a bad asthmatic frenzy that Ive had to be hospitalized.

i have seen a great prevalence of this in kids here that start smoking at 12/13/14/15.....they tend to go all out ..smoking huge quantities and strong pot. Holland is known for it's hybrids and some are very strong.

Yes it is a serious consideration in pubers and adolescents.

i have personal friends that are now most likely permanently medicated as a result of the psychosis sustained from their abuse of the substance.

i think the constitution also has to be taken into consideration, if you see a tendency towards compulsive behaviour or addictive personality...it is certainly to be used with caution.flowerforyou

I do not and never have enjoyed the herb but i do agree with bl8nt on everything having a place, honesty with your own use and behavior and everything in moderation. Growing up watching every friend around me, the wasbund and so many enjoy this for recreation, for chemotherapy, help with their full blown HIV prior to death, MS, I just dont buy the schizophrenia diagnosis. Sorry but i just dont. These friends and family come from all walks of life, economic structures, religions, etc. Not ONE TIME did i see where this HERB from MOTHER EARTH has caused schizophrenia.noway Honestly i wish they would legalize this HERB for so many who suffer from so many diseases and disabilities. With perhaps sales behind the counter, signing a book for the pharmacy much like you have to do now if you suffer from allergies and want a BASIC BOX OF SUDAFED ANTIHISTIMINE??! Now THATS JUST WRONG! America sure has some farked up ways for sure but even though i am not a toker or a smoker of this HERB i see no problem with anyone using this HERB especially for medicinal purposes. Just my ohhhhpinion of course!flowerforyou

The picking of a fresh bud or some tender leaves from a grower was so much preferable to buying a bag from an unknown source. With a grower I could peruse the garden and pick my own stash. I could be assured of its purity and know it wasn't laced with PCP or some other harmful drug. It was so much nicer stuffing a bread bag then buying some little dinky sandwich bag and asking, "You call this a bag?"laugh laugh laugh
