If anyone takes offense at what a comedian says then your just a sad little person LOL

that can be said about 'taking offense' to anyone,,what makes it less offensive from a Comedian?

its all about context and audience,,,and some people are offensive,,,those people are the sad ones,,IMHO

Because you should what the comedian is about before going to see them, if you don't then its all on you. (Not you specifically)

theres this thing called CABLE, people dont all 'go see' comedy,, some find it switching through channels and they stay tuned to see if it will make them laugh,,,

and then there are quite a few comedy line ups with more than one comedy act, where you get them all if you want to see any of them,,,

I would never 'go see' chris rock

Sounds like have all the earths mysteries figured out.

what would be the fun in that? The greatest thing about being human is knowing that no matter how much you know, its nothing compared to how much you dont know and wont know in the future,,lol

exploration and discovery , along with those opposable thumbs, makes us a pretty cool creation,,,laugh

If you look at what's trending on Yahoo, you might think today is not just Fried Chicken Day but also White People's Day. But before you pack up a picnic or go looking for the parade, that was actually two days ago, according to comedian Chris Rock.

In his typical in-your-face-manner, Rock sent out a provocative missive on Twitter for Independence Day that's stirring up a bit of chatter still on Friday.

"Happy white peoples independence day the slaves weren't free but I'm sure they enjoyed fireworks," he tweeted.

Frankly, it's fairly tame on the Rock scale of controversy, but it has still managed to elicit heated response.

One from Jeff Schrieber read: "@chrisrockSlavery existed for 2000yrs before America. We eradicated it in 100yrs. We now have a black POTUS." He followed it with a hashtag of a dismissive direction involving the F bomb.

Some found humor in Rock's tweet, including actor Don Cheadle, who received a Twit storm of replies.
Actor Zach Braff tweeted something less direct, but along the same lines as Chris Rock and was retweeted 745 times. He did catch a little flak as well.

We've scooped up a bit of the overall reaction online.

fried chicken day... sounds good!

Thank's for sharing. I am starting an online petition to have Chris Rock removed from the new Happy Madison picture Grown Ups 2. There is no need for a racist to be in a fun, family comedy. He is nothing but a black David Duke.

Anyone else who feel's the same can email johnnyg@adamsandler.com

LOL
I dont care for chris rock,, but he usually leaves them cracking up when he is putting other black folks down

this time, I guess he offended some folks (other than blacks),,lol

i never had a problem with CR... he has always seemed like a wannabe racist, like he just says things that he really doesn't believe just to make money... watch him in "dogma" and you will see what i'm talking about

No he is a racist. I remember when he got caught on a hidden recording making racist remarks and punching a reporter out.

I agree with you that he knows just what to say to make money. He's a comedian. He makes people laugh and makes money.

Dogma was very funny!

I don't think that if Adam Sandler, Jeff Foxworthy, Ron White, Bill Engvall or Larry The Cable Guy gave interviews bashing black people and calling them the N word left and right they would be labeled as genious and smart comedians, they would be burned at the stake.

Chris Rock is one of the top 20 funniest comedians of all time. He is my generations Richard Pryor. Not as good though.

Well the both beat on women and I am sure Chris followed Richard's path with the pipe.

News Flash...high profile, influential racists can be found everywhere. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a bigger racist and he got to be Governor of California. I guess it depends on where you draw your line in the sand.

I also don’t think (actually I know) that the “N” word isn’t always used in a derogatory way. It depends on who’s saying it and the context in which it’s being used. Personally, I don’t use it but I won’t be a hypocrite and say that I haven’t laughed when its been used comedically or in some films.

CR actually gives a really good example of who and the type of people he classifies as “N’s” – can’t remember which one of his performances and it’s too early to phone my son to find out - Might be Kill the Messenger.

Is it acceptable for a white comedian or for that matter, any white person to use that "n" word?

Obviously Chris Rock has found what works for him. No one is saying the same thing is going to work for someone else.

Good thing is, no one is forcing you to watch him.

they wouldnt get away with it because they cant be considered negros themself

they do however, make a living using and embracing 'redneck' stereotypes,,,because they are poking fun of 'their own'

happens quite a bit in comedy, Rock isnt alone in that,,,,

Yeah, I doubt Chris Rock would be nearly as successful as he is now if he were telling redneck jokes. laugh

I love Dogma..it's definitely up there with my all time favs.

No, I don't think CR is racist...he knows where his money comes from .

He's a comedian plain and simple and if you've ever watched any of his 'live' shows - thanks to my son, I've watched quite a few, he actually bashes black (African American) people more than white in his routines.

"Their own" definitely sounds racist...even a freudian slip is driven by a thought.... But BBW, your post is too cool...Try to explain an established "opinion" to the masses, I dare ya!laugh

Like any comedian, Rock is not everyones flavor....but racist?... Highly doubtful..Bashing "stuff" is what comedians do..no one is forced to listen or pay for tickets....

It would be embraced if a white comedian who jabs peopleu decides to start jabbing with the "n" word?
A white comedian using the same energy CR uses slamming whites?

White comedians do that, though. What about the "you might be a redneck" jokes? Those are certainly slamming some people.

I did say that white comedians do slam white people. No, it wouldn't go over as well if a white comedian were using the N word, or a black comedian were using redneck jokes. Each comedian has found what works for them.

The negro comedian uses terms like, cracker, whitey and other derrogatory terms for their laughs.
Name one popular, white, televised comedian that uses the "n" word and slams the negro race.
