there are many examples in comedy, of comedians whose comments offend someone, but those comedians take that risk and their sponsors and employers decide if they are offensive enough to cost them profit,,,,

when you are a radio COMMENTATOR, your sponsor and your employer have to decide whether you will be making them money or costing them money

so, the short answer is, what is 'acceptable' is in most cases determined by what will not be costing someone profits,,,,,and will be continuing to actually ADD to profits instead,,,
