It would be embraced if a white comedian who jabs peopleu decides to start jabbing with the "n" word?
A white comedian using the same energy CR uses slamming whites?

HAAA,, CR usually is using his energy to 'slam' blacks,, seems he has branched out

context is important, I cant emphasize enough what was tought to me back in KINDERGARTE but many adults still dont seem to understand

foxworthy, calling others redneck 'acceptable'

a black comedian from the hood telling jokes ABOUT 'rednecks' not acceptable

a black comedian using the 'n' word amongst other blacks,,,acceptable
a white comedian telling jokes ABOUT 'n' words,,, not acceptable

the reason? in the former example, the comedian is telling jokes that it is understood they are INCLUDING themself in, they are poking fun of things in their 'own' culture that they have observed

in the latter example, the comedian is merely poking fun of THER peple, setting themself aside as judging a group they ARENT a part of,,,,

and thats called the CONTEXT of the joke:wink:

I did say that white comedians do slam white people. No, it wouldn't go over as well if a white comedian were using the N word, or a black comedian were using redneck jokes. Each comedian has found what works for them.

The negro comedian uses terms like, cracker, whitey and other derrogatory terms for their laughs.
Name one popular, white, televised comedian that uses the "n" word and slams the negro race.

Well one did. His career is over. laugh

Who knew you were so PC Willing!

I don't really think the words cracker and whitey compare to the N word. They don't bother me, either.

Yeah, I can't remember the last time I heard cracker or whitey. Maybe Willing can fill us in, though, on who uses those words regularly? And you are right, Chris Rock is usually slamming other black people. Just as those using redneck jokes are slamming other white people.

Not really sure what there is to be upset over, though.

He apologized. In my opinion he did not have to. I still find it funny and it was not offensive.

it was maybe not offensive to everyone,, nothing is

but a personal attack with racial slurs and gloating over historical atrocities is not professional,,,and unprofessionalism costs peoples jobs daily,,,

The "n" word has no power over me nor am I personally offended by it's use.
Derrogatory terms used in jokes slamming whites are offensive.
Why is it embraced when one race does it and condemned when another race does the same.
Hypocritical and racist.
Why did Imus apologize?
I guess, to even the playing field, whites need to threaten to sue stations that allow negro's berating whites?

I found this funny. Howard Stern is able to get away with it because he has Robin Quivers by his side.

we have always had hypocrites, I dont know that any one 'embraces' hatefulness that I know of, and there is a difference between hateful rhetoric, and genuine comedy,,,,(they call that delivery in the comedy business),,,,

I understand the difference between when people are making generalized observations about their OWN culture, and when they are merely taking jabs at others in a very specific and isolated way(This is differentiating those who target ONE other group specifically as opposed to those who take a pretty fair jab across cultural lines INCLUDING Their own)

the beauty of it is,, if you or I are a part of the MAIN demographic of ANY media, which requires sponsors

we can and do have the ability to try (in large enough numbers) to persuade what that media portrays,,,because money talks

so,, when you have a sports show, where possibly a large portion of the demographic(sponsors consumer base) might be black folks,, its probably wise not to go off on racial epithets and insults

or,, if you are on a ,,,,shopping network, where possibly a large portion of the demographic (sponsors consumber base) is female, its probably wise not to go off on misogynistic rants either

ya see, money talks, and when sponsors feel a behavior may cost them a good number of their consumer base, they have the option to sponsor elsewhere, and those they sponsor have the option to try and avoid that outcome,,,,

As I said, white advocate groups need to sue the stations and boycott the sponsors if anything is to change.

how is WHAT ok?

do you have an example of where a black comedian singled out a white audience member and hurled RACIAL SLURS at them and it was 'ok'?

a black man saying to his audience 'he is a <insert racial slur here>' over and over and following it by explaining what he as a black man would have done to that white man in the hood

would probably not go over any better,, Im guessing,,,
