Topic: Texas won’t implement Obamacare

Texas Gov. Rick Perry has vowed not to implement state programs required under President Barack Obama's federal health care law. He joins several other Republican governors who remain opposed to the state mandates after the Supreme Court upheld the law's constitutionality.

NBC's Dallas affiliate reports that Perry announced his refusal to create a state health insurance exchange in a letter to U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius:

"I will not be party to socializing healthcare and bankrupting my state in direct contradiction to our Constitution and our founding principles of limited government," Perry stated.

"I stand proudly with the growing chorus of governors who reject the Obamacare power grab. Neither a 'state' exchange nor the expansion of Medicaid under this program would result in better 'patient protection' or in more 'affordable care.' They would only make Texas a mere appendage of the federal government when it comes to health care," Perry continued.

That's to bad for the people in Texas 24% of Texans over 18 do not have health coverage at all. One of the highest States in that regard.

maybe, but perry said it right when he doesn't want our state bankrupt. everyone with a toe-ache will start heading to the emergency rooms, flooding it and making it impossible for real emergencies to be taken care of... the whole idea is silly

Is Perry up soon for some sort of election or recall?
He usually backs Libs and Illegals.

I thought the uninsured did run to emergency rooms any how.

The real issue is not Obama care the issue is health care and its affordability.

We have the most expensive in the world yet are ranked 27th in terms of care by the World Health organization.

Florida won't either. People WHEN will you get it through your thick heads, NOTHING is free!!!! noway explode

It all comes at a cost. Many of the doctor owned hospitals have closed as medicaid does not pay SHEET!!! You will wait in long lines to be seen and then you will wait sometimes a year for any surgery, even cancer, if it does not kill you first. The government is gong to decide who lives and who dies, by budget cuts. They only allot so much money for certain procedures so if you need a bypass surgery done, good luck on that one. I had patients come down to Florida from Canada for Heart bypass because the man's wife wasn't on the list that year for it. So they drove here, claimed chest pain and BAM. Our original health care did do it as then Canada paid the bill to US 100%..Imagine that.rant

I just received this from a friend of mine that is an administrator in Georgia for a skilled nursing facility. Here is comes folks! Take care all and pray.

I wonder why this hasn't hit the Nat'l news, Yahoo, or other news source yet. & this is FACTUAL. The State of Alabama is BROKE ( $$$$ ), & it will have far reaching effects. I work in the healthcare industry & this was just relayed to us in a net-meeting today. The State of Alabama has NO money to pay for its Medicaid program. This means that, in my industry, nursing homes, as is true for hospitals, clinics, doctors offices, lab services, etc. Alabama can only afford to send out payments for 50% of the bill. That means ONLY 1 out of 2 patients will be covered for payment & they cant project if that will go DOWN.

How does this affect the Nat'l economy?? Well our corporate offices in Macon, GA told all of their GA homes to QUIT PAYING BILLS ( except for Food & Utilities ). All other services, vendors, bills, etc WILL NOT BE PAID..... in an effort to shuffle some of our funds to our homes in Alabama. You know this will also be the case w/ other Georgia companies having financial interests / pursuits in Alabama. So who knows how many thousands of other businesses & employees will be affected by the healthcare industry not paying their bills.

**** runs downhill. & what this also means for most LTC facilities here in GA ...... QUIT admitting MEDICAID residents. There will be NO GUARANTEE that you will receive funding for their care. So................ now, momma & daddy, mammaw & pappaw may have to move in w/ / stay w/ their children for care ??? So, you think this DOESNT affect you ???

Just thought you'd like to know how the economy is REALLY doing.

Another response about Jess Parish Hospital here in Titusville has instituted staff layoffs.

Its strange that you sent this.. Wednesday night at the fire works, a friend mentioned to me who is employed at " Parrish Hospital " in Titusville, that several people are being either laid off or " out sourced " as to their position.. Supposedly this was done after a Staff Meeting at the Hospital in regards to the outcome of the Supreme Court Ruling on the Obama Care Program.. Apparently what this person is saying below is taking affect everywhere.. The Domino Effect is apparently in play.......... Very Sad.............

Georgia is not broke, they just don’t like the new health care plan, so they’re hoping the GOP will take the presidency and repeal the law.

They are so hopeful that they don’t even want to take the necessary steps to prepare for a smoother transition to the new healthcare protocals. – look it up, there are plenty of articles spouting alarmist bs about the new program. Obviously a lot of people buy into that stuff, like the person who wrote about Georgia being broke .

Here are some logical and less dramatic explanations regarding the Parrish Med Center

Tue, Jan 4 2011 Titusville: This Isn’t the Final Chapter: Where the City is Headed After the Shuttle
http://www.spacecoastbusiness.com/titusville-this-isn%E2%80%99t-the-final-chapter/

The above article explains the major loss of the Space Center - as many as 8,000 layoffs in 2011.

The Following article explains the valiant effort made by Parrish Med Center to avoid having to layoff any of their employees due to the loss of so many people from the area.

It's interesting to see what people believe and how little effort they make to identify the actual facts of the matters at hand.

$1.6 Trillion Obamacare.

30 million recipients.

Divide.

$530,000 per person, per year, for insurance coverage.

Very Cost-effective!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OBAMACARE CAUSING OVER 80% OF DOCTORS TO WANT TO QUIT MEDICINE - The Doctor Patient Medical Association Foundation conducted a survey of random doctors and found that Obamacare is causing nearly nine in ten doctors to Want to quit medicine. In the survey, it is clearly shown that the medical system as it is changing because of Obamacare is discouraging doctors from practicing. 83% of the doctors s...aid that current changes made them think about quitting, and 90% of them thought the path of the medical field currently was wrong. An orthopedist from Texas stated, “I have been in practice for 28 years and medicine is now the worst for doctors it has ever been and I don’t see it getting any better. We needed insurance reform not health care reform.” Few Thanks Obama!!

Obama's march to socialism is causing Doctors to want to quit. So not only is OBAMA TAXING US TO GET MEDICAL CARE HE IS CAUSING CARE TO GO DOWN BY FORCING DOCTORS TO QUIT!!

thats nonsense. Emergency rooms have never required insurance so there is no reason to believe people will be any more apt to go there just because of a change in insurance laws...

The Doctor Patient Medical Association (DPMA) and the Patient Power Alliance (PPA) work to repeal health care reform[1] and call themselves a "a nonpartisan association of doctors and patients dedicated to preserving free choice in medicine."[2] The organization is a member of the National Tea Party Federation[3] and the "American Grassroots Coalition."[4]

Canada has a 'publicly funded' healthcare. America will continue to have 'privately funded' healthcare AND 'social programs' like it currently has. People will just be required to have insurance for their health, like they have it on their car. The choice of insurance doesnt exclude any of the 'private' companies we have chosen from already.

You mean that illegals will be required to purchase insurance as soon as the come over the border? . Or just continue to overburden our hospitals, dental clinics, medicaid, medicare, schools and social services? That would be great, it ain't gonna happen though.

'illegals' are a nice diversion, but not nearly as significant in the discussion on healthcare as LEGAL US CITIZENS without proper healthcare options due to lack of insurance coverage

we can always work to have fewer criminals, but we are never gonna STOP crime altogether,,, whether it be illegal immigration or corporate embezzlement,,,,,,but the world keeps turningflowerforyou
